Safety Precautions that keeps the Doctor away

As an adult, the worst sickness that scared me was the one that happened to me last year around, it was as if I was going to die but thank God for the gift of life, here I am hale and hearty.

Since I have grown to be independent, I have never had such a sickness that will keep me bedridden, I later realized I was the cause of my predicament, and I won't put the blame on myself alone because the nurse who treated me also messed things up.

I have never been to the hospital since I grew up and know my right from left, what I do is visit a pharmacy if it has passed the normal headache humans have.

When I started feeling some symptoms like hot temperature and headache in one part of my head, I assumed it was malaria even though I had just treated malaria with drugs in the past month, I went to the pharmacy and bought another malaria drug and I would feel better for a day after taking it but the next day, My body temperature becomes hot again and I keep hoping I would be fine soon but it got to a stage that I could not bear the pains anymore and I had to summon a nurse but she did not run a test to diagnose what exactly was wrong with me even though I asked her to run a test, she said it was malaria I had and gave me six injections and passed 4 drips on me that same day within 4 hours, she rushed everything and collected 20k naira, I was okay for two days before the symptoms started again but this time around I decided not to do self-medication neither did I plan to call the quack nurse that did a bad treatment on me.

I visited a lab and ran a test and that was when it was discovered that I had typhoid and not malaria I had been treating, I bought an herb for treating typhoid, and within 2 days, I was okay!..

The first advice I would give is

Always go for a test before treatment: Many people are fond of self-medication when they do not really know what is going on with them and this could worsen their illness, I learned hard from this sickness that happened to me and now before I receive any treatment or start buying drugs, I must first run a test to be sure of what I am treating.

Exercise: We take our health for granted especially when we refuse to do the needful, people who work offline are already going through a lot of exercise by going in and out and walking from one place to another but for us who are full-time online workers, we sit down and work on our laptop all day, we should spare some time to jog round the compound to shed some weight to avoid obesity especially if we are always eating while working and we definitely can't control that food urge when we have nothing to do than to sit and press phone and laptop all day.

Sleep: Sleep is part of the free gift of nature but you refuse to sleep early, am talking to you fine boy/girl, the time you are supposed to sleep is by 10 p.m. but you are always online bombing, and hustling and at the end you sleep by 2 a.m only to wake up by 6a.m to continue hustling.

Health is Wealth... All that has been gathered won't matter if we do not have good health to enjoy them, so invest in your well-being by sleeping, eating a balanced diet, and exercising your body, you can do this and avoid unexpected sickness or avoid them and fall sick often, just make sure to go for a test before treatment, you have a choice.

Sorry about your health bro. 6 injections and drip isn't a child's play oo. I prefer to take drugs than injections. That's why I won't wait to breakdown before getting something to use. But sometimes self medication might not solve the problems we have. Get well soon brother.

the nurse was just rushing everything, I guess she didn't want to come back the next day and she put her patient life in danger cos of that. am already fine, it was last year

Okay. The nurse can be so impatient sometimes and it's just few of them that have chill pills. I could remember going to the hospital sometime again when I was ill but I never allowed any nurse, until the matron came herself to inject me

Thank God you're better now. Self medicating leads to death most times. I sometimes self medicate which isn't good at all. Like your rightly said, visit the hospital for a checkup to know what's wrong and allow the doctors to be the ones to prescribe. I think that was a lesson you learnt the hard way.

It's a good thing you are okay now. Thank you for the tips shared, in as much as self medication helps at times, it is still very important to always go for check ups.
