Forgive but do not forget
We are going to meet a lot of people in our lifetime, some will be a blessing while some will be a lesson that we never want to repeat the mistake of ever having their kind in our life.
I am someone who will never take revenge on someone for hurting me, when I get angry or hurt, I channel the angry spirit within me into productivity rather than using it to destroy things or someone...
Do I have a Forgiven Spirit? yes
Do I have an unforgiving spirit? yes!
I have a forgiven spirit because no matter what someone does to me, It does not occur to me to do them evil. I guess that is forgiven enough because it takes a good heart to not retaliate or plan on taking revenge when someone hurts you and it takes a kind heart not to take revenge when you have the chance to hurt someone who inflicted pain on you.
I do not have a forgiven spirit because If you do me bad, I won't react to it but you have lost me forever, such a person is canceled in my life and nothing can ever bring that closeness we once shared, I am someone who does not like to get hurt so I do not really let people into my life easily, but If I somehow let someone in and they decided to take it for granted or betray me, it is very easy for me to cut someone off no matter how I like them and no apology can tighten the bond again.
So why do I forgive people easily when they hurt me, It is because I won't gain anything by treating them the same way they treat me, hurting them back won't give me the satisfaction I need too, instead, it will only prick my conscience so why bother hurting myself more when I can just let go.
The reason why I do not let people I cut off to enter my life anymore is because I can no longer trust them, once bitten twice shy, You only have one chance to hurt or betray me, you won't be giving another chance no matter how pathetic and sorry you look when apologizing..
I have learnt not to share my deepest secret with others no matter how close we are because whatever has a beginning also has an end, so there is an end to some friendship, no point in sharing what they can use to harm or hurt you later.
At the end, forgiving people does not mean I care much about them, it is more about me, I care about my peace of mind and happiness, holding grudges would take that away from me, hence why i do cut off people rather than take revenge for their bad deeds.

I see revenge as something childish and in the end, will cause more harm than good. Indeed, we don't gain anything from revenge, so the best option is usually to just forgive and move on from the whole issue, but never forget the lessons learned

Great point of view on human interactions. I think trying to hurt people back for what they did to you is usually a waste of time and resources. Much better to learn from it, turn a new page and move on.

Burl doesn't want to give a second chance, but do you know there are some people we still could give second chance to, only if they feel remorseful of their actions? This doesn't mean letting them come closer like they do before, but you have to set clear boundaries to avoid any further mistakes and in the end, you will come to see a real change in them.
While there are some that no matter how much we have forgiven them, they still do not worth bringing closer to our lives because they aren't remorseful at all, they still act in such a way that it is obvious they'd do the same thing again.

What I meant is that you can forgive and give them a second chance to prove the right way to you, BUT you must not let them get too close to you that they would want to harm you again. You just have to set your boundary
I have seen people talked about forgive and forget but the truth is, it is not always easy to forgive and forget most especially when the scar is still there. We can forgive but we might not be able to forget
it is necessary not to forget so we won't let our guard down
