You don't mess with "The D"

Get your mind out of the gutter, this isn't that kind of a post. When I say "The D", I am of course talking about Detroit. That wonderful town just about two hours south of me. Motor City, home of Pistons, Tigers, Red Wings, and of course Lions.

There has been a lot of ruckus across the state of Michigan ever since the mockery of a game against the Lions and the Cowboys. We really should have known better than to expect the officials would call a clean game. This has been their MO for years.

I kind of get it when we had Suh on our roster. He was a borderline shady player and drew his fair share of flags. The idea that the officials would carry things over long after his departure is just par for the course I guess.

If you listen to Coach Campbell he will tell you we shouldn't be mad at the officials. He literally said the other day "don't do that". It's hard though. When it happens once or twice, you might get that inkling that they have it out for the Lions.

Then it happens a couple more times and that's how rumors start. By the time you get to this point, it's pretty plain to the whole world what is going on. In fact, that's the big difference between this time and all those other times. Before it was just a nervous chuckle followed by a "poor Lions" sentiment.

Now, everyone has seen and pretty collectively agrees just how horrible the mistake was. I haven't seen a single person besides the NFL and Cowboys fans that thinks what went down on Saturday night was legit.

Don't let any of those off handed comments about the Lions screwing themselves over by trying to be tricky fool you. Someone is lying and evidence shows it's not us.

I could maybe accept the fact that Allen just got confused. If that's the case, own up to it and maybe think about a career move. Instead, the NFL hands him a prime time game between Baltimore and Pittsburgh to see if he can double down on his worthlessness as an official.

I read a story today that there are billboards going up all over the Detroit area that simply state "Decker Reported". Similar to the debate about whether or not "Han shot first", will this be one of those things that is never full resolved, or will the NFL do what should be done and clean house?

One thing I do know, Detroit isn't going to take this laying down. We've been your whipping boy long enough NFL. We are finally seeing some success and we have new fans joining our bandwagon every day. No longer are we just the die hard Honolulu blue used to being kicked aside and a virtual laughing stock of the league.

We've handed that title off to Carolina for this season.

My hope is that this glaring oversight serves as fuel to the already rampant wildfire that is Lions Nation. Let's get a win against Minnesota, let's run the playoffs, let's show the NFL (and Vegas) that despite their wishes, we can't be stopped.

You don't mess with The D!

No way man. I'm still not a huge fan of Goff, but the culture in Detroit is finally something to get a bit excited about. These next couple of weeks will really determine things. If they don't make it past the first round, then we can talk again :)

Refs have been breaking hearts my whole life. They should have game tape like players and the bottom 10% should be cut every year

Yeah, that would be a good idea. I know a few ref's in both basketball and football that would be gone.
