Sports Betting with Bozz: A lucky break!

I promise this is going to be a short post for me today. I placed a fair number of bets this past weekend and for the most part pretty much all of them came out as losers for me. In fact, if I had to guess, my win rate was something like 10%. That' assuming I placed ten bets over the weekend and only one of them actually hit for me.

I even put a little bit of money down on soccer, not that it did me any good. I placed a bet in the Liverpool/Arsenal(?) game that happened on Sunday for it to end up being a draw. Well, the finally score ended up being 2 to 0 and I was left out in the cold. That's part of the reason I hate betting on soccer. It's like that double zero spot that they added to the American Roulette table. Just another way to make it harder for you to win!

Oddly enough, even though I only won one of my bets, that one was enough to put me well above what I started with for the week.

They say that parlay bets are fools bets because they are just so hard to hit. I mean it's hard enough to hit a single bet most of the time. Never mind when you string three or four of those together and then try to hit something. I actually got crazy lucky with the one bet that hit.

Actually, let me back up a bit. I started the weekend with something like $130 in my account. That still down quite a bit from the $200+ I was sitting at over a year ago, but it's still all money that I have won, so I don't feel too bad about it.

If I ever get down to the $50 range, then I need to start worrying.

I placed enough bets to move my total down to around $119. So I figure about 11 or 12 bets since I usually only bet one dollar per bet.

As I said, only one of them hit, but it was enough to net me $40 or so and push me up to the $160 range.

The bet had to do with my beloved Lions and it was basically a four leg parlay that required four different players to score a touchdown.

Thankfully, Laporta got his out of the way right away since he ended up getting hurt and left the game in the first half and didn't return in the second half. I actually thought I had lost the bet because I didn't see him get the first touchdown. I figured I was going to be one leg short of completing the parlay.

It wasn't until I logged into my account the next day that I realized he had actually caught that first touchdown and I was golden!

How cool is that!?

Alright, that's all I've got for this week. I will probably be doing some more betting in the future. Especially with the NFL playoffs on the horizon. I'll likely use the shotgun approach again, I just know one of these times I am going to come up blank!

i enjoy sports betting provided they are small bets just to make the game more interesting for me. Years before it was actually legal I opened an account with a UK based gambling site and it was actually quite difficult to get my USA funds into it. Here we are years later and I have about the same amount of money in the account as I did when I first opened it. I don't think I will ever actually withdraw it because like you, it was a relatively insignificant amount of money. Since I never place big bets, there is never going to be a big enough payout for me to feel incentivized to actually take it out.

It is fun though.

I'm with you. I started realizing a while ago that I need to just stick with $1 or $2 bets. It just makes things last longer. Sure, you can chase those big wins, but you are more likely going to find yourself at $0 a lot quicker. I've played around with an EOS based sports betting platform for a bit called Sportbet.one. It was interesting.
