It's Loons Baseball Time!

I mentioned last week that Friday night @mrsbozz and I were going to be making a trip to the local minor league ball park to catch a game. She had purchased a suite for the night as a gift to the staff in her building. This was the second year in a row she did the suite and it was a huge hit just as it was last year.

I have said this before, but after watching a game from a suite, I am not sure I would ever watch one any other way. It's just an amazing experience. I don't know if I will ever feel this much like a VIP in my whole life.

The suite we were in holds just over 20 people and the cost for the suite was $600 or something like that. Which if you break it down, really isn't that bad. If you knew 20 people you could each pay $30 and get to see the game in luxury!

Food and beverages on the other hand are a different story. Food for that many people cost almost as much as the suite did (if not more). Drinks for @mrsbozz and I were about $30 a round. It was a good time though and The Great Lakes Loons actually won, so that was pretty exciting.

The game just happened to fall on the same date of Taylor Swifts latest album drop "The Tortured Poets Department", so naturally, the park had to make it Taylor Swift night. Something I was more than okay with given the fact that I am a self proclaimed "Swiftie".

Sadly, there weren't a lot of people in the park that night as you can see from the photos. It was a bit chilly and I think things pick up once summer arrives and kids are out of school. I would have guessed it would be more alive on a Friday night though.

Our niece recently got a job working at Dow Diamond as part of the "pep squad" or whatever they call it. We got to see her a couple of times through the night. She even came up to our suite on her break to say hi to us.

She did all manner of jobs from greeting people, opening the gate for the bat boy, singing with kids on the field during the 7th inning stretch, and even dancing on the dugout during one of the Taylor Swift songs.

I don't think I have ever seen her smile quite so much. It made my heart very happy.

I know I have said this before, but Dow Diamond really is a beautiful facility. The lack of people always makes me a bit nervous this early in the season because I would hate for them to shut it down. We don't go super often, but it's nice to know it is right around the corner if we did ever want to catch a game.

The Great Lakes Loons is a feeder team for the Los Angeles Dodgers. On Friday night they were playing against their cross state rivals, the West Michigan White Caps which is a feeder team for the Detroit Tigers.

Someone pointed out it was a bit hard to cheer against the White Caps given the fact they are a Tigers affiliated team, which I get, but you still gotta support the home team.

Like I said earlier, it was a great game. We got to see a home run, and then we got to see some late game heroics from the Loons to come from behind and clinch the win. The White Caps were leading 4 to 2 heading into the 5th inning, then in the bottom of the 7th, the Loons scored three to go up 5 to 4.

That ended up being the final score. It was a fantastic game!
