Direct verbal communication is key to getting things done

In our days effective spoken communication sets a direct pathway in ensuring tasks are completed efficiently and promptly. While modern technology has provided us with various communication channels, such as SMS, WhatsApp messages, and emails which could be appealing and more non-confrontational to use, I believe we need to recognize that passive forms of communication may not always yield the desired results. In many cases, verbal communication through direct speaking or phone calls proves to be more effective in getting things done.

For example I have hired a service to make a parking space on a piece of land in the mountain. Despite paying for the service before being finished and exchanging several WhatsApp messages with the contractor, the project remained incomplete even after two months. However, a simple phone call today to the person in charge resolved the issue within a day. This example highlights the importance of direct communication in conveying urgency and ensuring tasks are prioritized and completed promptly. I simply avoided confrontation and that cost me in ensuring that things are happening and that I had power over the situation one way or the other.

Diminishes misunderstanding

Through direct verbal communication I believe that also any misunderstanding is diminished. This happens because it allows for immediate feedback, clarification questions, and the use of tone and emphasis to convey the message more accurately. One can express if he or she is good or not about outcome, ask more questions and try to clarify everything until the communication is ended.

Provides additional insight

On top of that verbal communication encourages the exchange of information additional to the one on topic. This can provide additional insight, put under spotlight things that one could have not thought about or simply enrich the experience. I am one that doesn't think to know it all, so I welcome the feedback and information provided in addition that what initially was planned and designed for. Things in life are usual fluid, so we should not expect or limit the outcome and expectations.

While direct verbal communication might imply also confrontation which most of us try to avoid, for me it is clear that's a key factor to getting things done. Communicating passively, sending reminders simply don't work in some situations and we should try to get out our comfort zones and simply try to make things happen. We learn from experiences and I though to share mine with you. In the end learning never stops and I truly can say... this is the way!
