Comfort Found In...

I don't know about you, but I can't bear to block my ears from the sounds it makes. The taste of it on my lips reminds me of how a desert person feels after taking a sip of water after days of cracked throat.

The way the mist touches and seeps into my skin is unexplainable. The feeling is out of the term "Cloud nine". It brings in different shapes that I cannot help but be enchanted by and the whole of humanity adores it.

"The Sea"

Knowing the sea was a blessing to me and the world that surrounds me. The music it plays is a combination of all musical instruments of the world and... It is perfect.

The way Its waves hit ashore is mesmerizing. You get lost in its beauty if you stare for too long and there is no harm in that.

I met the sea at a younger age. My parent's home wasn't far from there and the first time we got to meet... The world stopped to bow for seconds... Maybe hours, I can't say for I was lost in the calmness it filled me in.

Yes, you can say our love was at first sight. And we made love with the moon as our guardian to purity. The sea welcomed me like a lover does his beloved after months apart and I bathe in its glory with no ounce of shame.

Our journey was perfect and still is as together we are unstoppable.

The sea calms me and lifts my worries away with sweet kisses planted on my body with the flow of its misty wave. And its salty air that always surrounds me reminds me of "Lot" in the Bible. I am never tired of the sea as I find solace in its name.

It is a gift mother nature has bestowed me with and just like a hungry man, I have devoured it but not without salivating its taste on my lips like I didn't want it to end and it never does.

The presence of the sea in my life helped shape me. It cajoled me into remembering I could look beyond the horizon because there is life out there too. I was partly an introvert when I got to meet the sea but with its endless love, I got to be an ambivert.

The reason I said I am partly introverted is that life made me be. I am an extrovert by birth but when the heavy waves of life came, it pushed me to an edge where I became a shadow of myself. I hated humans and locked myself up but... Just like how a knight saved the damsel in distress, the sea came to my aid and swept me off my feet to a life worth living.

I don't like talking about myself much which is mostly why I don't participate in Creative nonfiction writing but, seeing the topic is on nature, I couldn't help my fingers writing all about the glamorous effect of mother nature's blessing of the sea in my life.

I can't help the excitement that fills my soul whenever I hear the name of the sea and... I can smell the sea from miles away. Never surprise me with that. Haha. I can't help it. I guess I am too attached to it and I love the feeling as I have found comfort in the sea's embrace.

The effect of nature on us is quite similar, it is calm, it absorbs my stress, fills me with energy, and makes me see life from a different perspective.

I have been to the sea a few times and the effect of waving the wave is unexplainable.

Thanks for this piece.

I am glad you feel it too. The unending superpower of its calmness is unexplainable. And the power it holds is beyond human assumptions.

It is nice knowing you've visited the sea. Thank you for that and I appreciate your presence here.

PS:I hope our incoming wife is well. 😁😁

Your creative nonfiction piece is lyrical and poetic, @balikis95. It's nice that you've joined the creative nonfiction writers! It's perhaps not for everyone, but as you have found, now and then a particular topic might strike a chord. Thank you for sharing your story in The Ink Well, and for reading and commenting on the work of other community members.

I love the sea, the sound of water is so calming to the soul, the reflections of the sun and the moon in the water can turn it into a magical escapade. Looks like the sea had its calming effect on you and turned you into an ambivert.

I love how you mix poetry and lyrical writing into this. It's smooth and you can actually hear the sounds of the waves in each line. Many people don't like talking about themselves which is understandable but I'm glad you resonated enough with this topic to be able to share a part of yourself. And no matter how small, it did take courage and for that I commend you. Well-done @balikis95🌺
