This is a good take on a complex subject.

Personally I think it's about balance. We want to prevent bad actors accessing our data, but want the government to have enough information for us to live our lives within society.

Here in the UK, the problem is that the government just has far too much information about us. Everywhere we go, there are cameras with facial recognition software, our phones and cars are tracked, information on how we spend our money is passed by banks to the tax authorities, etc, etc. Being under constant surveillance to that degree is oppressive, especially when the government fails to use it to actually protect us from criminals !

Now that’s really too much and I guess that’s why I like the one here in my country, I think it’s just okay at least compared to yours.

Like you said what matters is the balance and I think that balance would be really hard to attain but let’s see how it goes 🫠.
