Battle Sharing: Overcoming Tough Opponents In Little League And Outlasting Them

image.png

Prelude
Good day to all, how are you doing this lovely weekend and it is time for another battle sharing where I go up against tough cards, tough matches or share how certain abilities give strong advantage to win. Been a while since I had little league as compared to the past so today's sharing will be on a little league match. And it's something that really test us of what to field considering now the meta has bloodline mechanics and all kind of synergy happening across sets and reward cards.

Little League

I think Little League ruleset needs no big introduction.

Only cards with 4 mana or below is able to be selected both monsters and archons included. So if you are only having foundation archons, this will be a problem for you.

Otherwise, this is a real test of understanding your cards and putting up something really good to overcome what your opponent prepared for you.

And let's go right into today's battle sharing.

Selection Analysis
In today's matchup, there were 4 splinter choices available to us for this match, namely water, death, life and earth. So many permutations and so many possibilities, the way to go is to think out of your splinters available, what can come onto the battlefield together and complement each other. I do have Conclave Arcana archons for all the splinters but like my old days, somehow death tend to allow me to play more stuff with more abilities loaded.

To lead the lineup it will be gnome bloodline archon, Razi Clanktrap whom leads the gnome bloodline. This card is interesting because every range attacker under it will be able to have close range and fight from first position. For my tank, I went with Nimbledook Explorer which will give the whole lineup protect and will be given magic attack through the means of weapons training through Moxian Rebel which is the next card in the lineup. Also gaining a magic attack through Moxian Rebel is Conclave Artificier which have a rather decent stat for a low mana card. To ensure opponent melee cards goes under control, Dark Arborist is being selected which gives demoralize. Next card in the lineup is Fenmoor Haunt which is able to sneak attack for 2 damage and this is very significant for little league. Last but not least is Death Ranger which has void armour and loads of armour to burn against magic attackers.

Opponent used dual splinter archon Zeddica which is able to use cards from death and water splinter. The tank chosen by my opponent is Chao Rear Guard which has shield and effective against melee/range attackers. Next card that my opponent used is Wailing Wraith which has armoured strike which allows it to strike me one more time using the armour stats. Opponent also had Dark Arborist to keep melee attacks in check. The next card that follows is Night Stalker which is able to hit hard from the rear with 3 melee sneak attack. Following is Mar Torren Seeker which snipes and also has dodge, making it a very hard to clear backline. Last ono opponent lineup is Shock Trooper that strikes for 4 and can clear any card in my lineup with ease, though having the small price to pay end of each turn.

From the way it looks, I am really in a very disadvantaged situation especially with many hard hitting cards that my opponent put into the lineup. Can I survive through that relentless spree of attack? Let's find out through the round by round synopsis:

Round by Round Synopsis

Round 1 - A little tough round to swallow with Nimbledook Explorer just being taken out with ease by Shock Trooper and Wailing Wraith after reviving. This is not a good start opponent just bulldoze through my frontline with so much ease.

Round 2 - We are still under a lot of pressure with Moxian Rebel also falling while my opponent's lineup still staying in tact and I am down to only 4 cards that remain. At this stage is there a chance of overturning the outcome of the match?

Round 3 - More casualties seen with Conclave Artificer also falling. But I do observe something, while so much punishment is being dished out my way, my opponent's cards are slowly being chewed up by their own price to upkeep Shock Trooper and all the cards are dangerously low in health. Looks like a hope for us.

Round 4 - That consistent zap killed off almost everyone of my opponent lineup and now we are faced with all the 1 health cards while my Dark Arborist also fell. 2 cards of higher than 1 health vs 4 cards of 1 health each, is there a chance?

Round 5 - Surprise surprise, after a zap that resolve at the start of round 5, only Mar Torren Seeker is alive which was easily disposed by my lineup. And I manage to outlast my opponent to land a sweet victory.

Battle Summary
Through the starting rounds, I could not have imagined myself to even win my opponent considering the aggression from his lineup. But it seemed like my opponent had a self ticking time bomb that just take out everyone in his lineup which allowed me to outlast and win the match.

Wrap Up
Thank you all for dropping by the post and walking through with me on the sharing on this match and learning together with me on how to do better in various rulesets, card selection and against strong foes that in normal days are hard to overcome.
