The Last Coins of Great Britain

During my visit to Daniel's Coins, among my $3 treasures was this set coins from Great Britain. It is the complete Decimal issue and the last "pounds" issue from Great Britain.

Many of these are just common currency in England, but they're a bit more difficult to find in the States. You wouldn't likely find any of these in our change!

The coins are in great shape and have excellent history behind them. The "ONE PENNY" goes back to 1801, with the same design all the way too 1967. That's a very long run!!! Older designs that were still circulating include the Halfpenny and Florin and Halfcrown.

Later came the "newpence" or "new penny". Not as much of a fan of these more modern versions, but it's still great to have some in my collection.

Teach Your Children Liberty from Sin

We encourage parents to teach their children principles of Godliness, beginning with the Word and an understanding who God is and what His Son has done to form a relationship with us.

No one can lay a foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ. If anyone builds on this foundation using gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, or straw, his workmanship will be evident, because the Day will bring it to light. It will be revealed with fire, and the fire will prove the quality of each man’s work. 1 Corinthians 3:11-13

Teach Your children Liberty from Tyranny

Second to this is the principle of self-determination and freedom, lest we loose the ability to teach our children the first principle in future generations.

Our children read the Tuttle Twin books, specifically to learn libertarian principles, which most people learn later in life. These books are useful for our family, and yours, to teach children concepts that seem complicated, but are made simple in these books.

I am an affiliate for Libertas Publishing, your purchase will help our family grow financially.

Very nice find! Good price on it as well!

I asked chatGPT what their total collector value is (no silver), and it came up with $53 USD. Turns out the older style coins are collector coins - the HALFCROWN is a $10 by itself! Getting the whole set for $3 is pretty ridiculous. I think because he deals mostly with silver rounds, non-precious metal coins are cleared out, withouot factoring in collectors value.

Your post didn't specify whether you were able to obtain that set of British coins (whether they were bought by you or gifted to you) or simply took a picture of it (from somewhere). 🤯😅 !WEIRD !LOLZ

This is a follow up post from a previous post when I visited a coin store and bought a bunch of $3 items. This was among my $3 purchases. It originally came with a hard clear shell, but it was cracked so I removed it for the photo. I thought it was interesting to acquire these coins without having to travel overseas. I "gifted" them to myself, I am the happy owner of these coins. !BBH

I pick up unusual coins from any destination, but prefer US coins. This was a nice addition to the collection though. !BBH

Thanks, it's my first British coin set in my collection. Didn't realize that some of these are in high demand, especially the Half-Crown and 50p. !BBH

Yes, they don't make 'em like they used to. Most modern coins are copper and other metals, while coins of old used actual precious metals, especially silver. Maybe someday copper will be considered a "precious metal" and we'll laugh that entire houses used to be piped with copper pipes!

!BBH

Yes the type and quality of the metals used is a big factor, as all as the artistry and designs of the older coins often being more intricate and detailed. In terms of usefulness, copper is pretty badass, so I wouldn't dount it. 😁 🙏 💚 ✨ 🤙
