RE: Topcomment weekly curation report (week 40)

Hello Matteo!
Thanks for all the compliments and your delegation. Every delegation counts towards a big stake that helps supporting engagement!

Regarding your question:

A question: what do you think makes the difference between a good comment and a comment that deserves a @topcomment upvote? πŸ€”

We have some quidelines on which comments we do and which we don't upvote.
These are lined out in a post. You can find the link in this blog.

But in short, we avoid upvoting comments on sensitive topics (war, religion, politics, conspiracies etc.) because we don't want to pick a side in those discussions. We also look for signs of AI use (your comment does show some signs of that as well by the way). Overall, a comment should show that they the commenter has actually read the blog and respond to it in a meaningful way. There is also a minimum length requirement. β€œGreat blog, I also have a dog!” isn't a topcomment πŸ˜€

Keep on engaging!

Hello @friendlymoose, thank you for the clear answer! πŸ™

I have already read your guidelines, thank you. You are right about the AI signs: English is not my first language and I get help with writing and translating. I explain why very clearly in this post: The Power of AI: 40 Years of Code, One Hectare of Soil. In short, I use AI as a pen and a translator: the ideas, the hard work and the muddy hands are mine. 🌱

And it is not new for me: already 40 years ago, as a young programmer at the beginning of my career at the newspaper Il Sole 24 Ore, I was using code generators. Tools change, but the ideas are still mine. πŸ’»

From now on I'll write shorter and more personal comments, only on blogs I have really read.

Thanks for what you do for the community, and good work! 🐝
