Thank you for this weekly report, @topcomment! π I think it is an excellent tool for curation and engagement: rewarding thoughtful comments, with manual review to keep abuse out, is exactly what makes conversations on Hive worth reading. π¬ 71 comments curated in one week and almost 6,700 since December 2024 is a great result, congratulations to the whole team and to the curators! π
I've given my small contribution with a small delegation, and I like that most of the curation rewards come back to the delegators as liquid HIVE every day: it is a very Hive way of supporting the community. π
Here from the hills of the Marche, in Italy, I'll keep trying to write comments with real effort, and maybe one day one of them will be nominated! ππΏ
A question: what do you think makes the difference between a good comment and a comment that deserves a @topcomment upvote? π€

Hello Matteo!
Thanks for all the compliments and your delegation. Every delegation counts towards a big stake that helps supporting engagement!
Regarding your question:
We have some quidelines on which comments we do and which we don't upvote.
These are lined out in a post. You can find the link in this blog.
But in short, we avoid upvoting comments on sensitive topics (war, religion, politics, conspiracies etc.) because we don't want to pick a side in those discussions. We also look for signs of AI use (your comment does show some signs of that as well by the way). Overall, a comment should show that they the commenter has actually read the blog and respond to it in a meaningful way. There is also a minimum length requirement. βGreat blog, I also have a dog!β isn't a topcomment π
Keep on engaging!
Hello @friendlymoose, thank you for the clear answer! π
I have already read your guidelines, thank you. You are right about the AI signs: English is not my first language and I get help with writing and translating. I explain why very clearly in this post: The Power of AI: 40 Years of Code, One Hectare of Soil. In short, I use AI as a pen and a translator: the ideas, the hard work and the muddy hands are mine. π±
And it is not new for me: already 40 years ago, as a young programmer at the beginning of my career at the newspaper Il Sole 24 Ore, I was using code generators. Tools change, but the ideas are still mine. π»
From now on I'll write shorter and more personal comments, only on blogs I have really read.
Thanks for what you do for the community, and good work! π
