๐Ÿ‚ Final Fantasy VIII EP 16 | The Tomb of the Unknown King & Brothers GF โš”๏ธ

Our journey through Final Fantasy VIII continues, but before we can move forward with the plan involving Sorceress Edea, there's another place we need to visit: the mysterious Tomb of the Unknown King.

What initially seems like a simple assignment quickly turns into another dungeon full of exploration, battles and hidden surprises. And this time, taking the time to explore everything is definitely worth it, because somewhere inside the tomb we can obtain a new Guardian Force.

Actually... two brothers are waiting for us. ๐Ÿ‚๐Ÿ‚

๐Ÿ›๏ธ Exploring the Tomb of the Unknown King

After leaving Galbadia Garden and meeting Irvine, our next destination takes us away from the cities and into an ancient tomb.

I really enjoy this section because it has that classic RPG feeling: entering an unknown place without knowing exactly what we'll find inside. The tomb is essentially a maze, and it's surprisingly easy to lose your sense of direction while exploring its corridors.

But instead of simply rushing toward the objective and leaving, I wanted to see what else was hidden here.

That's when we encounter Sacred.

Defeating him, however, is only the beginning.

๐Ÿ‚ Sacred, Minotaur and a New Guardian Force

Deeper inside the tomb, we eventually discover that Sacred isn't alone.

His brother Minotaur is waiting for us.

Now we have to face both of them together, and the battle becomes much more interesting. Their constant recovery while touching the ground makes the encounter different from a normal boss fight and forces us to think a little more carefully about our strategy.

Once Sacred and Minotaur are defeated, the reward makes all that exploration worthwhile:

Brothers joins our collection of Guardian Forces! ๐ŸŽ‰

Their summon is easily one of the funniest we've obtained so far. Instead of the intimidating presence of Ifrit or Diablos, Brothers brings a completely different personality to our growing GF collection.

And I love that.

๐ŸŽฎ Why I Love Exploring in Final Fantasy VIII

This is exactly why I don't like rushing through games like Final Fantasy VIII.

If we simply followed the main objective, it would be very easy to miss some of the best optional content. Exploring an extra corridor, challenging someone to Triple Triad or investigating a strange item can lead to powerful rewards that remain useful throughout the adventure.

Diablos came from a mysterious lamp.

Brothers was waiting inside an ancient tomb.

And I'm sure there are still plenty of secrets ahead of us.

That's part of the magic of replaying a classic RPG: even when you already know the story, there's always something worth searching for.

๐Ÿ’ญ Final Thoughts

We entered the Tomb of the Unknown King with an objective related to our mission, but we're leaving with something much better than expected.

Sacred and Minotaur are now on our side as the Brothers GF. ๐Ÿ‚๐Ÿ‚

Our collection continues to grow, and Squall's party is becoming stronger just as the stakes in the story are getting higher.

Because once we're finished with this tomb, there's still a much more dangerous mission waiting for us.

Sorceress Edea remains our target. ๐Ÿ”ฎ

And compared with what we've seen from her so far, I think we're going to need every Guardian Force we can get.
