🌙 Final Fantasy VIII EP 14 | On the Road to Galbadia... Laguna Returns! 🎮

After everything that happened in Timber, our journey in Final Fantasy VIII has to continue. Squall and the others leave the city behind and begin making their way toward Galbadia Garden, but what should be a relatively simple trip soon becomes strange once again.

While traveling, the group suddenly collapses.

And by now, we know what that means...

It's time to dream about Laguna again. 🌙

🛣️ Leaving Timber Behind

The situation surrounding Timber has become increasingly complicated. The Forest Owls' plan failed, President Deling escaped, the mysterious Sorceress Edea appeared on television, and Seifer confronted her before disappearing with her.

There are far more questions than answers.

With little choice but to move forward, Squall and his companions head toward Galbadia Garden. I really enjoy this part of the game because we finally get more freedom to explore the world outside Balamb and Timber. The adventure is starting to feel much bigger.

But before we can reach our destination, something happens that we've already experienced once before.

Squall, Zell and Selphie lose consciousness...

and another story begins.

🌙 Laguna Is Back

Once again, we find ourselves controlling Laguna, Kiros and Ward.

The first time this happened aboard the train to Timber, it was completely unexpected. Now we at least recognize the characters, but the biggest mystery remains exactly the same:

Why is Squall experiencing Laguna's memories?

The contrast between the two protagonists continues to be one of my favorite things about these sequences. Squall is reserved, serious and constantly keeps his emotions to himself. Laguna, meanwhile, feels almost like his complete opposite: expressive, spontaneous and sometimes hilariously awkward.

Yet somehow their stories are connected.

We just don't know how.

And Final Fantasy VIII isn't in any hurry to tell us.

🧩 A Mystery Slowly Taking Shape

This is something I appreciate even more while replaying the game years later.

The story doesn't immediately explain who Laguna is or why we're suddenly living moments from his life. Instead, it gives us small pieces of information and lets the mystery develop naturally.

Every new dream feels like another piece of a puzzle.

We know these events matter.

We know Laguna matters.

But understanding exactly why is going to take some time.

And that's precisely what makes these sequences so interesting.

💭 Final Thoughts

Our destination is still Galbadia Garden, but once again the journey has been interrupted by Laguna.

What began as a strange dream aboard a train is clearly becoming an important part of the story, and with every new encounter I'm left with more questions about the connection between Laguna and Squall.

For now, all we can do is keep following both stories and see where they eventually meet.

Because in Final Fantasy VIII, even falling asleep can become another adventure. 🌙
