RE: What do you think about ads on 3speak.tv ?

Thanks for the mission, @liotes! 🙌 My answer: I'm in favor of ads on 3Speak, as long as they're done fairly. 📺

  • For the platform: video hosting costs a lot, and ads can help make 3Speak sustainable without relying only on donations.
  • For creators: if part of the revenue goes back to the people who make the content, it's a win-win.
  • For small businesses like mine (a farm stay in Italy 🌿): a Hive-native ad is a great way to reach an engaged community, instead of paying big platforms.

I even wrote a post proposing a prize contest for Hivers to test the new ads, with my own ad for Ca' Paradiso as an example! 😄

The key, in my view, is to keep ads non-intrusive (no endless pre-rolls) and transparent about how revenue is shared.

My question for you: what ad format would you find acceptable as a viewer, a short banner, a pre-roll, or a sponsored video? And do you think creators should be able to choose whether to show them? 🤔

When I think about the aspect that the viewer actually gets a part of the pie, I think that they might be quite actively watching them. So as long as it doesn't generates multiple pop-up's that might crash the browser. I'm all for it :-)

Thanks, @achim03! You're right: if viewers get a real share of the revenue, they have a reason to watch the ads. The no pop-ups condition is fair too. Ads should be light and shouldn't crash the browser, or they'll just push people away.

For me the best format would be a short banner or one short pre-roll, with creators free to choose whether to show them, so the audience isn't punished.

Would you accept a short pre-roll if you earned something for watching it, or do you prefer banners?

Grazie, @achim03!
