I think birds are amazing creatures and each species has its own personality and beauty. As a painter, I am interested in their shapes, colors and movements. I understand that keeping some birds may not be attractive to everyone, but since I had many pigeons in our yard as a child and of course my parents still have many pigeons in their yard, these can be the reasons for keeping them: decorativeness, a sense of joy, in some cultures they are a source of sustenance and blessing of life, they can be bought and sold like other birds, etc. But for me the feeling of joy and happiness is more tangible because I remember when I was a child we would make noises with our mouths with great joy and 100 pigeons would come out of their nests and gather around us to eat. These moments were truly full of excitement and joy for me and my family.
I don’t know how artists view the world—perhaps one day, when I become an artist myself, I’ll understand—but for now, I try to look at the world with a sense of wonder, much like a child does :)
Children have an abstract perspective, which is why they go beyond drawing what they see, and only a few lines are enough for them to draw a house.
