The Invitational is our bi-weekly, super-duper, writing contest. It is where we match quills and draw blood all for the sake of the craft. We all know a 'friendly' competition never hurts anyone, much, especially when it can be used as a platform to improve your writing. π
π₯ Gold: 50 SCHOLAR, 3 SCRIBE, 2 HSBI, 300 Ecency points

*The bed sheet stretched smooth at Ranella's tight tugging. The pillow fluffed high at her gentle probing. The warm water gurgled loud at her strong unleashing. Margaret watched with amusement as Ranella removed the breakfast tray. Afterward, she assisted Margaret into the bath chair. Offering a lovely Spanish tune, Ranella urged her to join in. *
π₯ Silver: 40 SCHOLAR, 2 SCRIBE, 1 HSBI, 200 Ecency points

Instead, Katie walked in, her own hands turning into fists. Josh smirked that stupid smirk of his and went to push her back. Katie grabbed his hands as he attempted so, and flung him to the ground with one fell motion. Steve, as always, of course, did nothing.

@grindan with Show Me What You Got!
Ms. Fidget's Academy for Talented Psychopaths was nestled deep in the Kenai Mountains of Alaska. It was close enough to retrieve supplies from the nearby cities, but remote enough to evade detection. Dug 500 feet into the earth, its secrecy was secure.

π₯ Gold: 50 SCHOLAR, 3 SCRIBE, 2 HSBI, 300 Ecency points
π₯ Silver: 40 SCHOLAR, 2 SCRIBE, 1 HSBI, 200 Ecency points

A classic, simple combination I know. But last time we did romance and school and still received only unique tales. Having the mundane, and recognizable as our canvas we can portray with a much deeper narrative texture - i.e. less is more. Also, sometimes, you just want to write something without having to think too much. π
Your panel of judges will be @kemmyb and @grocko.
May the odds - and your creative energy - be ever in your favor!
We'd like to give out a big shout-out and thank you to Ecency for sponsoring this contest! π€
A big thank you to @melinda010100 as well for the seamless communication.

Hello @kemmyb. I appreciate your hard work as judge in selecting the winners. I know it is not an easy task. Thanks so much for my selection and your support of my story. It was fun to approach romance and school as it pertained to the older generation.
I will remember to invite another writer. Looking forward to participating in the (detective/noir) challenge.
Take care.

Hello @grocko and @kemmyb. Thanks so much for selecting my November entry as a first place winner. I certainly appreciate it as romantic love is also found and endures in the older generation. I was pleased to have captured this in my story. I appreciate the support of the Community. I appreciate the prizes.
Congratulations to @atyourservice and @grindan for your creative stories that also won.
I didn't see any runners-up who won.
Take care everyone and have a good weekend.

@gracepro/the-victim-monthly-short-fiction
THanks for participating Grace!
ooh... now this looks like an interesting challenge!!! I have never written a detective story before, let alone detective noir... hmm...
There's always a first time for everything, including a fine detective noir story. Hehe. We look forward to reading your story! π
hehe... I'll try get one out... I have an idea milling around my head. It's been a while since I put out a piece of fiction. I have to admit... I've been struggling to find the right words in the pieces I have been working on... but perhaps I just had too much on my plate for a bit... pushing through the writers block too!
I am tantilized by the possibility of a Sam story!
I have an idea for one. Will try get it done!
