It is often said that anyone with a talent or skill has a higher chance of succeeding in life. This is exactly true in reality, as our society is filled with successful people who are skilled in their area of work or have turned their talent into real income. Such people may not have everything they desire, but they are usually financially stable and able to earn consistently from their work. Some of these people have attained a higher financial position in life, and are able to assist others who lack skills.
This is why it is imperative for every one of us to learn a skill or refine our talents, so we can stay afloat in this ever-changing world of ours.

I became passionate about learning skills and turning them into income when I discovered my ability to write lovely and engaging pieces during the COVID-19 lockdown. Prior to that time, I would scribble original quotes in my diary, write about my friendships, my daily experiences, and my thoughts about people I encountered. I also read a wide variety of books and watched many movies, which improved my vocabulary and expanded my imaginative ability. I didn’t realize that these small habits were shaping me into the writer I am today.
In 2020, my sister introduced me to a crypto blogging platform. It wasn’t easy to navigate at first, but I eventually mastered it and began writing there. I wrote daily, especially because my country was on total lockdown and I needed to keep my mind active. Over time, my blog gained visibility and people often stopped by to compliment my writing, which made me happy. Until then, I had never considered myself a writer, much less one who could be praised for her work.
Being on that platform exposed me to far better writers, and I was inspired to improve. I decided to move from article writing to storytelling and poetry, which was my first major challenge. These types of writing required more creativity and mental effort. Sometimes I would hit a writer’s block, making me unable to continue a story or poem. Other times, I got lost in the plot or in the opening lines.
It was frustrating because creative writing is a fast-growing field, and the more I let my mind get lazy, the more I fell behind.
I received both constructive and harsh criticisms. The harsh ones did get to me sometimes, but I turned them into motivation. My second motivation was the reward that writing brought, which was my first significant earnings, and subsequently, higher payments when I started writing on Hive and other platforms that paid out in more stable cryptocurrencies.

In 2022, I started freelancing both as a writer and a virtual assistant, and I earned more money. I became confident in the beautiful work my hands and my mind could create. I was happy that I was no longer the girl who would end up with a casual 9-5 job, but one who could also earn from her other skills.
Writing opened my eyes to the possibilities that exist for those willing to explore them.
The money I earned made me realize that just a few years ago, I had been entirely dependent on my parents for everything. But writing paved the way to my first real earnings and made me less dependent on them. That alone was life-changing.
I did take a break from writing for a few years because of other commitments, but I restarted three months ago, and so far, it's been an awesome experience. I can tell that there is still more to learn, more to improve, and more for the world to seen and I am committed to doing all of that.
I'll admit that I may never become a full-time writer for an agency or myself, but writing will always remain the skill that changed my life, and I will always be grateful for it.
