How I protect myself from online scammers

In today’s digital age, online scammers are everywhere, constantly looking for unsuspecting people to deceive through fake messages, websites, phone calls, and attractive offers. Because of this, I always try to stay careful whenever I use the internet. One of the major ways I protect myself from online scammers is by avoiding trusting strangers online too quickly. I never share my personal information such as passwords, ATM details, bank information, or OTP codes with anyone, no matter how convincing they may sound.

I also make it a habit to carefully check links before clicking on them. Many scammers send fake links through emails, WhatsApp messages, text messages, and social media platforms in order to steal people’s personal information or hack their accounts. In addition, I avoid offers that seem too good to be true because most scammers use fake giveaways, unbelievable discounts, or promises of quick money to attract victims.

Another important step I take is using strong passwords and enabling two-factor authentication on my accounts. This adds extra security and makes it harder for hackers to gain access. I also regularly update my phone, computer, and applications to protect them from viruses and cyberattacks.

Before buying anything online, I make sure to confirm that the seller or website is genuine by reading reviews, checking ratings, and verifying their reputation. I also stay informed about common online scams by reading online safety tips and news updates.

Most importantly, I advise my friends and family members to be cautious online as well. I believe that being smart, patient, and alert while using the internet is one of the best ways to stay safe and protected from online scammers.

Thanks for reading.
