Money Doesn’t Change People, It Reveals Them.

This is a very interesting topic to discuss, because it's something I've always thought about too. Does money really change people, or does it just show that side of them that has always been there but hidden?

There's someone I knew back then; he's a big brother in the hood, very jovial, loving, humble, and all of that. Even though he had nothing then, he was always doing the little he could and trying his best, but then his story changed, and he became famous and wealthy. Everyone, including I, was happy for him, but in less than three months of his turnaround for good, he became a completely different person. He didn't want to associate with us again, not just us is younger ones, but also his peers too. He began to act as if he were now way better than everyone else.

And thinking about it now, maybe money did change him. You know poverty can be very humbling. And I'm just being honest, when you have nothing you tend to be humble and act all good, you just manage whatever you have, do the little you could, respect others, and see everyone struggling as you too, so you try to treat people better, but when money comes, you believe you don't need anyone again, you believe now people will of high caliber would be the one seeking you and there's nothing you want to use this "low levels" to do, Low levels that you're a part of before your story changes. Funny, right?

But then again, I've as well seen someone who's very humble and generous when he has nothing, and when he became wealthy he continued to be who he is. He even became more generous and humble now that he's rich. He helps much more than ever before; he introduces and starts a lot of beneficial programs for people all around. Not only that, but he gives students scholarships and even went to the extent of buying equipment and tools for those who do handiwork.

So, I think I would conclude by saying that money does change a person; the individual who's rich now and has stopped being the guy we used to know has changed, and the other who's now doing very well for everyone has changed too; if not for the money he now has, he won't be able to touch lives positively as he's currently doing.

What I'm saying in essence is that money gives a person's heart enough space to express itself. Whatever money sees in there is what it shows. If you're kind, you become kinder; if you're selfish, then you become more selfish.
