I can't say that I really saw myself staying on Hive to this point. It may not be a long journey yet, but it's certainly one I wasn't certain of having till today. After being introduced to Hive, I decided to join and give it a try, which was some time later on. The benefits of the blockchain sounded appealing to me. Especially the fact that my efforts would be appreciated and rewarded. Also, my content wouldn't be judged in a derailing way, which made it sound all the more interesting as something I should be a part of.

Now, it's been more than a year on the blockchain. It wasn't an easy journey, but for some reason, I kept showing up. The rewards then were enticing and a motivation to keep showing up. Today, we know the story is different as regards the rewards. At some point, I would have probably said that getting appreciated and rewarded for my content was a good enough reason I was still on Hive. Well, amongst others. However, with the low rewards currently, it's clear that such wasn't the only or major motivation. There's something more.
A friend of mine applauded my constant showing up on the blockchain amidst the low rewards, citing that many others we were together with left for this reason. What keeps me here on Hive goes beyond the rewards. I see the growth I've achieved and the things I've learnt in writing and other areas, and I recognise why I'm still here on Hive. This blockchain has helped me grow in my writing skills. Beyond that, it helped to awaken the writing skill in me that was left dormant. And here, I find a place to exercise this skill continuously and consistently, while learning, growing and getting better.

There's also the place of relationships built. This is one area I didn't really envision when joining Hive. I saw it as a strict place and anything out of place could get you in trouble. You can't blame me, the rules and warnings are very serious. Haha. However, with time, I got to interact and relate with other users through engagements and several communities. Now, I've built some wonderful friends and connections that today form a part of my life, I'll say. This has been a major reason why I'm still here on Hive.
An unpopular reason to what keeps me on Hive is the prospects of the blockchain. Hive is in a difficult place and time, but beyond this lies a prospect ahead. I'm still here to enjoy the blockchain and the interactions, and then to see what the future holds or produces. I want to be here when Hive makes a massive shift and things get better. These prospects also come in the form of new developments and the redevelopment of old projects. Like the hCurators project which I'm privileged to be a curator, I wouldn't have had the privilege if I weren't still here.
