Using Mobile as an alternative to Raspberry Pi

I have been exploring options to host a few applications in my homelab setup. I currently have a Raspberry Pi that's connected as a travel router to my ISP router. For the past few days, I have been reading a lot of articles where I can find information about using my mobile device as a server along with the Raspberry Pi that I already have. People say that it is a better option than going for a Raspberry Pi. Maybe it is good for hobby projects, but I'm not sure if it would be a good one when I want to host production-grade applications.

It will sound interesting if we say that we can use Mobile as an alternative to Raspberry Pi. But there are so many cons to this approach, and that is what I read online when I searched for details. The biggest problem is the heat management. When applications are continuously running on the mobile device, it can produce heat, and we cannot be sure how to manage that heat. Another problem that I see is the battery problem. When there is more heat generated, obviously the battery will also be affected. If the battery becomes swollen, that can be an indication of a battery failure. If not attended to, it can even lead to the burning of the mobile phone.

I definitely agree that even though Mobile phones are ARM-based, they can be a good solution for hosting applications, and, they can be a good alternative to Raspberry Pi because of the specs. But if problems like these can be handled somehow, it will be a great thing. China is working on something like this where they use multiple mobile phones connected to a single computer and handled with bulk commands. That's mostly for social media promotions and stuff.

I definitely would like to try something with one of my old phones. After I do that, I will probably share my experience. But until then, there are so many grey areas for me as well.
