Recently, I was having a conversation with one of my clients from the Netherlands. We usually discuss many things, and the recent topic of discussion was about Indian music and Indian movies. He is a musician by the way, and that's how music-related discussion started. I understand the fact that music is different across the world. But some people find it hard to absorb Indian music. I think the feeling is quite similar because we Indians also find it hard to accept some of the foreign music. I'm also very selective about my English songs, and when I watch web series in English, I find it hard to follow some of the songs and references there.

So the discussion was about music, and then came the discussion about Movies. To my surprise, he mentioned that he wouldn't be willing to watch any of the Indian movies, it seems. For some reason, he finds it to be too dramatic and sometimes even a fantasy. But he mentioned that he hates the fact that movies have songs and duets in it is what surprised me. I agree that there are so many movies in the Indian Cinema that have songs in the movie that are not relevant to the movie. Maybe the Indians are used to it, but someone who is watching an Indian movie for the first time might find it hard to understand why the hero and heroine are dancing to a song and then suddenly move to an island for the song.
Today, many directors have understood this and have been working on creating movies to a global standard, and in most of those movies, there will be no songs in the movie. There are still directors who wish to have multiple songs in the movie, and there are also directors who don't wish to have any songs in that movie. The trend is catching up, and we might have some great movies in the Indian cinema that do not focus on the distracting parts like songs, and primarily focus only on the story of the movie.
