Change in Landscape in China

The change in the landscape is happening in many places across the world. NASA took some images comparing data from 1987 and 2026. The huge difference was that one particular landscape was completely converted to plastic cover which was once a green agricultural landscape. It doesn't mean that there is no agricultural activity happening there, but it is currently happening inside a greenhouse, which is more effective compared to the regular methods. I'm not sure how it can be defined when it comes to the health aspects, but in many places, this greenhouse transition is happening and is expected to give more efficiency than regular farming.

Weifang's satellite image is what displays this change currently. It doesn't mean that agriculture is disappearing, but it is changing as people change the way agriculture is being done. In greenhouse farming, people are able to farm in a controlled environment where they are able to control the temperature of the surrounding, and at the same time they are also able to try different crops. When it comes to natural temperature and seasonal changes, there is only so much that the farmers can do. This is affecting their yield production.

Not just in China, but this practice is visible across many places. People are able to cultivate Safron in hot places where they use controlled environments to grow these crops. I think the demand creates all these things. If there is a huge demand for something, people go to any extent to get the best outcome. Now, coming back to the change in the landscape of China, most of the land is now covered with plastic if we view it from the top. In one part of the world, there are campaigns happening to create awareness about the harmful effects of plastic usage. In another part of the world, there is no control over plastic usage.

China is terraforming ecosystems and with climate change maybe the agriculture of the future will be in closed and control systems where science can be pushed to the max. Even if that's not the same as with growing culture on earth, but maybe in the future the humanity will not be able to do that anyhow.
