Audible - Getting back to my reading habit

It has been a very long time since I read something. I'm usually not someone who can sit and read physical books. That's the main reason why I wanted to go for audio books. I have tried purchasing and reading physical books but it is not working out well for me. I have hardly read any physical books but I do listen to a lot of lectures and audio books.

Today our life is very busy with out mobile phones and we are able to do short readings from our mobile itself. There are no specific readings for me. Maybe it is because my life is keeping me very busy. I realized that I have been paying about Rs 200 every month for audible subscription. Back then when I wanted to read Rich Dad Poor Dad, I bought this subscription and it was years back if I'm not wrong.

I did not cancel the subscription and since then I have been paying Rs 200 for several months now or maybe even years. Spending this money is not a big deal. I spend a lot of money in many invaluable things anyways so this is definitely not a regret for me. The only problem with this subscription is that I don't spend enought time to make use of this efficiently. Every month I get one free credit as part of the subscription and with that free credit I can purchase a book of my choice. That how I have a good library in the application.

The problem for me is that even though I buy a lot of books, I don't spend time to read them. There used to be a time when apart from reading books I also used to listen to a lot of free podcasts as well. Now I don't fine the time and I don't have the patience either. I have now started getting back to my listening habit. Mostly this happens during my commute to office and back home. I get about 1 hour time to listen to a book of my choice. Sometimes when I go for a walk, I spend time listening to audio books. There have been some great goods and there have been some poor choice of books too. It is more like a balance.

Everytime I miss reading books, I think about the money that I spending and I get back to my reading habit. This is how I keep my motivation going. But after I push myself like this, there is definitely no regret for me because reading books is definitely a good habit that everyone should have.

Now I don't fine the time and I don't have the patience either.

And that's part of the bigger problem, which I have realized of late - sleep disturbance, health issues etc. At one point of life, we have to decide how much we can do and put a schedule for everything.

Nice comeback to learning! Do you feel audiobooks help you focus better than physical books?
