From time to time, there are downvote campaigns against giveaways. Because I like to support riddles, raffles and giveaways, I would like to share some tips with you on how to improve your giveaway posts.

No single piece of advice will make your posts bulletproof. However, the more aspects you include, the safer it will be to avoid downvotes. Bear in mind that Hive rewards are based on POB (Proof of Brain) rather than POW (Proof of Work).

It is what it is: Posting rewards are never guaranteed until they are in your wallet. Hive is a DAO, and every Hivian can play their part in regulating this organisation — accept that.

One main factor is that 'cheap' posts intended to generate rewards are not very welcome. So you should put some effort into your publications. This means:

• Avoid using the same images in multiple articles.
• Don't just copy and paste text – write a large proportion of the content yourself. No filler content — provide real, valuable information about the idea behind this giveaway, such as some background information or something to learn.
• Give away valuable content. The ratio between the prize and the reward for posting is an important factor.
• Encourage real interaction. Simply writing a comment is probably not enough. A photo or writing contest, for example, is different.
• Asking for votes in return for entering your giveaway is not welcome.

If you ever receive downvotes:

• Don't start screaming.
• If you receive a comment relating to the downvote, politely ask how you can improve. But be aware that the downvoter may not want to waste any time with you. Don't upset them.
