Hello Hivers😊! I hope everyone has a good day💛. This is my first time posting in this lovely pet community in hive! And today, I want to introduce you to someone very special in our family, Ken, our family cat🐈🧡. But before he became the comfortable and loved cat he is today, Ken had a very different life. He used to be a thin, dirty little stray, searching for something to eat near the trash whenever people threw their garbage away.

Before we had him, I was still mourning the loss of our new kitten my big brother picked up outside our property. He named her Haliya from my name. I was half-irritated and half-amused at them lol. Then one late afternoon on September 7, 2024, she came back from her walks, weak, and coughing. I ran to her, I panicked, I didn’t know what to do. Then slowly she stopped breathing with her eyes open, I cried that time. I searched up what could be the reason and I saw it, parvo. It was viral that time because some neighbors' cats suddenly passed that way. I had to bury her alone in our garden because my siblings were in another city.

The next day, our long-time family dog Yin passed away. We had her for ten years in our family since she turned 1. I can still remember the day my older sister brought her home from her classmate’s house. My sister told me her classmate couldn’t take care of another dog in their home so my sister took her home to us. My father and I buried her in our garden just like our previous pets. Our family was dispirited for those days.
I had to message my siblings about what happened. My older sister, the one who brought her home, I don’t know what she felt that time when she saw my message. That our kitten and long-time dog passed. Even Yin’s puppy Dumbo, who was at least 4 or 5 yrs old at that time, was very quiet. He didn’t bark so much. We could tell he noticed her gone.

Then 13 days after Yin d!ed, my younger sister came home with a… scruffy thin cat, half-orange patterns, very shy and timid, always sleeping from the city where she studied. She told us it’s a new cat.

I was hesitant at first. Afraid that death wasn’t done in our home. And also because we had a family cat before, a tuxedo cat, he loves his walks, we named him Yeye and one day he didn’t come home. A lost cat. Slowly, I interacted with Ken. Not too warm at first because I was afraid that if I get too attached, I would cry again if something happens to Ken. Yes, we named him Ken from Barbie.

My younger sister told me that the reason why she brought him home was because she first noticed him outside her boarding house, that there was some cat who would run to the trash cans fast whenever someone threw something in it. A hungry thin cat and he was very friendly to her.

Ken on his first days in our home was always sticking close to us. He loves to sleep on the couch where the sunlight hits. And I was busy training him to use the litter box.

And he loves to lay on the laptops lol. He was spoiled. The treats and catfood were always available. And in exchange? He lets us carry him around like a baby. And make him our lapcat.

He is very gentle, timid against other cats. He’s always the one getting batted on the face without warning lol. His favorite pastime is annoying our oldest sister while she’s eating and working. He would jump on her desk and she would call for us that Ken is on her desk again.

And he doesn’t meow like other cats. He’s not talkative for an orange cat. My sister and I joked that the reason why Ken doesn’t meow is because we are the ones doing the meowing for him😂. Right now, he’s perched on our table, watching my sister eat. Living a good life. And I realized that sometimes, the most unexpected encounters bring the most beautiful souls into our lives😊.

I hope everyone enjoyed reading my post. Have a good day💛!

Losing a pet is really painful, no, no, not just a pet but a family. It will be painful talaga kapag ganon and nakaka trauma din and matatakot ka talagang mag alaga ulit. But then, may darating din na panibago na mapapamahal na naman sayo. Its like what happened here. That new baby looks so fluffy and big, can I call that cutie Tabachingching? Haha. So cute
Pero it doesn't matter sa amin if may breed or wala basta cute. Mahilig kasi mga people doon ng mga pusa especially yung may foreign breed.
So happy Ken find a home where is cared and loved 💗
