I see a lot of people worried about the length of texts, as if the number of words defines the impact of a message. "Write more, at least xxx words!" they say. But what’s the point of a long text if it has no soul? If the words are just there to fill space and not to convey something real?

Writing is like photography. In photography, it’s not the number of elements in the frame that makes an image memorable, but the way light and shadow interact, the way details are captured at just the right moment. It’s the intention behind the click that makes the difference. A well-composed photo, one that carries meaning, can speak louder than a thousand empty words. And unlike text, photography doesn’t need words. It is writing in the form of an image, a visual record that conveys emotions without the need for explanation.

Likewise, a text needs intention. It doesn’t matter if it has a hundred or a thousand words—what matters is what’s being said, what lingers in the reader’s mind. I’ve seen long posts that said nothing and short phrases that made me reflect for days. The weight of words isn’t in their quantity but in how they touch those who receive them.

Writing, like photography, is about choosing what to tell and what to leave between the lines. It’s about giving space for the reader to see beyond the words, to feel the light and shadow of what’s being said. Because, in the end, both writing and photography are ways of capturing moments, freezing emotions and thoughts in time. And both deserve to be valued for what they represent, not for the space they take up.

So, the next time someone tells you a text needs to be longer, ask: does it need to be longer, or does it need to be better?

Vejo muita gente preocupada com o tamanho dos textos, como se a quantidade de palavras fosse o que define o impacto de uma mensagem. "Escreve mais, mínimo de xxx palavras!", dizem. Mas de que adianta um texto longo se ele não tem alma? Se as palavras estão ali apenas para preencher espaço e não para transmitir algo verdadeiro?

Escrever é como fotografar. Na fotografia, não é o número de elementos no quadro que faz uma imagem ser memorável, mas sim a forma como a luz e a sombra dialogam, como os detalhes são capturados no instante certo. É a intenção por trás do clique que faz a diferença. Uma foto bem composta, que carrega significado, pode falar mais do que mil palavras vazias. E, diferente do texto, a fotografia não precisa de palavras. Ela é a escrita em forma de imagem, um registro visual que transmite emoções sem precisar de explicação.

Da mesma forma, um texto precisa de intenção. Não importa se são cem ou mil palavras — importa o que está sendo dito, o que fica no pensamento de quem lê. Já vi posts enormes que não diziam nada e pequenas frases que me fizeram refletir por dias. O peso das palavras não está na quantidade, mas na maneira como elas tocam quem as recebe.

Escrever, assim como fotografar, é sobre escolher o que contar e o que deixar nas entrelinhas. É sobre dar espaço para quem lê enxergar além das palavras, sentir a luz e a sombra daquilo que está sendo dito. Porque, no fim, tanto a escrita quanto a fotografia são formas de capturar momentos, de congelar sentimentos e pensamentos no tempo. E ambas merecem ser valorizadas pelo que representam, não pelo espaço que ocupam.

Então, da próxima vez que alguém te disser que um texto precisa ser maior, pergunte: ele precisa ser maior ou precisa ser melhor?
