The Receipt I Never Threw Away

I still have a receipt for a drug I went to a pharmacy to buy some months ago. Not because the drugs were special. Because that day, I never planned that the drugs would have added so much amount to it because I still got it some weeks for someone before going back to get it again for myself.

Though I had been postponing going and getting the drug for myself because I was having some reactions on myself in the form of a breakout after eating some certain foods, especially oily foods.
I took a bike from my place to the pharmacy some kilometers away from my house because I checked around; none of these big pharmaceutical stores had the drug because it is not in high demand. And from what I think, it is a drug that only the doctors can prescribe, so most of these other pharmacies didn't bother to have it in their store.

On getting to the pharmacy store, I met other people, so I had to wait in line, and when it was my turn, I told them what I wanted to buy, and they told me the price. I was shocked at first. Not because I didn't have the money, but because the price they now say it has become was different from how much I got it for a few weeks ago. And I was holding the exact amount I got it for then. But what saved me that day was that I was with my phone because I wanted to drop it at home before. But I was glad I went with it because it would have been a two-time journey that would have wasted part of my money.

I got the drug, paid for it, and left after I was given the drug and the receipt. I wanted to throw the receipt away, but I didn't throw this particular one away because I might be going again to get the drug. And I need to have proof to see if the price has increased or stayed the same because I am very sure that the price cannot decrease.

Though the receipt means nothing to me, it is more than a piece of paper because it reminds me how quickly things change, especially prices of things and how fast we move on from them. Sometimes we think we remember, but records like this receipt I have kept remember better than we do. What I almost threw away became proof of a reality that keeps changing around us.
