It's pretty late right now, about 1:15 AM. Everyone is fast asleep, but I'm experiencing my third restless night in a row. Another strange cycle that I cope with: once a month I have to experience an entire week of incredibly shitty sleep. Seemingly without cause, nothing new in the routine -- just can't seem to sleep lol.

I dunno about you guys, but I cannot sleep in a static environment; I need to have sound in order to sleep. It began very strangely as a baby. My dad would record tapes of the vacuum cleaner running, and I would fall asleep to this white noise. Then it progressed to listening to songs on the radio. Now it has evolved to a TV playing YouTube videos.
Only, I'm extremely anal about the content that is played in the background! π For starters, the volume cannot be higher than 15 -- past that, I will inevitably wake up. Secondly, it cannot be material that is intriguing, in any way. If I put on a crime documentary, my mind will become too engrossed in the story and suddenly I'm more awake than ever. It should also go without saying, nothing to do with war?? π€¦ I dunno if it's a man thing, but there have been countless times where I've woken up to machine gunfire because my husband is watching a show about WWII.
I can't listen to anything over the top or in your face; there is no way I could fall asleep to a MrBeast video full of cuts and sound effects. At the same time, I can't watch simplistic things either. I am constantly woken up by the Joe Rogan Experience, of all things. Again, very particular about what I can fall asleep to...
I typically enjoy falling asleep to Let's Plays, where the person plays video games while giving commentary. Right now I've got one of my staples on: penguinz0. I don't always agree with his takes, but his drull, baritone voice is the perfect sound to fall asleep to β€οΈπ He's currently playing Fears To Fathom, another personal favourite of mine -- I love the horror genre π
