I am by no means an expert in this game, and I feel like I am lacking alot of direction in the game at this point. Do I sell all my fans, buy microphones and just spam voice lessons, until I am a higher level? What missions should I be doing right now? I just reached LVL 20 and own the i6 so I am in a new area and that means new questions.

You goal should be to keep your Ego at 0%. If you have your Ego in control then you should focus on earning as many Starbits as possible per day until you can afford another pizza slice or pizza box.
If you are having trouble with your Ego you can put your Highest fan cards up for sale on the market at a very high value (100,000 starbits). That will reduce your fans and you will still own the card, just don't forget what you have for sale (wright it down) the game does not have a mechanism for viewing cards you have for sale. Hope this helps.
