Preparing the cable is the very first step in setting up a joint box or splitter box as it is popularly called. To begin with one has to prepare the cable, that is to remove the outer layers till the core itself is seen. Below are the lists of things to get rid of in order to get to the core itself.
1. The Fiber Jacket: The fiber jacket is the strongest and the outer protection of the core. In most cases to remove that outer jacket one has to use a knife or a razor blade. As for me I prefer the blade because it is sharp and easy to use.
2. Strength Member: There are basically different strength member on the fiber cable. There is the Aramid Yarn, Steel among others
3. The Buffers: The buffers can be removed gently with a sharp razor blade. In removing the fiber, being extra careful is very important. This is because any slight mistake can result in breaking or cutting the cores
1.Coating: Next is the coating, the coating can easily be wiped with an unused tissue paper
2. Cladding: The last item is the cladding, removing the cladding has to be used with a special too called the stripper.
After the cladding has been stripped, the we have the cores and cleaving is the next thing to do
Outer Jacket removed
Machine cleaned and ready for splicing
Cable properly tied to the box and splicing has began
Another box holding the twenty four cores cable
Proper management of the unused buffer and the used cores is very important
Box hung to the pole
Cable proper tied to avoid dangling
Concluded and closed box
