Walls that tell stories

There's a bar near my house that I go to quite often. They have a great hamburger, one of those with an addictive flavor. But, curiously, what draws me to the place goes far beyond the food: it's the artistic care, an idea that I think is simply brilliant.

The bar is located in a house with several rooms. It's very cozy, visually striking, and each space has its own personality. Nothing seems random, and yet it is random at the same time. Every detail has a unique touch, as if everything had been thought out calmly or angrily.

What I like most (besides the hamburger) is the way they display the works of local artists. From time to time, the art changes. Many of these artists come from the art university here in town and use the space to showcase their work. And why is that so brilliant?

Because the bar has found a clever way to revamp the look of its walls without spending anything, while supporting local artists and even earning a commission on the works sold. If you go to the bar and fall in love with a piece of art, you can simply buy it.

I always like it when this “art exchange” happens, because the place is never exactly the same. There's always something new to contemplate. The coolest thing is that each room follows a kind of artistic theme, which makes everything even more interesting and well thought out.

This time, I took some pictures. Not of all the art I liked best, but of the spaces I was able to visit that night. I didn't get to see all the rooms, but that's for next time.

Tem um bar aqui perto de casa que eu frequento bastante. Eles têm um hambúrguer ótimo, daqueles com um sabor que vicia. Mas, curiosamente, o que mais me prende ao lugar vai muito além da comida: é o cuidado artístico., uma ideia que eu acho simplesmente genial.

O bar funciona numa casa, com vários cômodos. É bem aconchegante, visualmente impactante, e cada espaço tem personalidade própria. Nada parece aleatório e é aleatório ao mesmo tempo. Cada detalhe tem um toque único, como se tudo tivesse sido pensado com calma ou com raiva.

O que eu mais gosto, (além do hambúrguer), é a forma como eles expõem as obras de artistas locais. De tempos em tempos, as artes mudam. Muitos desses artistas vêm da universidade de artes aqui da cidade e usam o espaço para mostrar seu trabalho. E por que isso é tão genial?

Porque o bar conseguiu uma forma inteligente de renovar o visual das paredes sem gastar nada, ao mesmo tempo em que apoia artistas locais e ainda ganha uma comissão sobre as obras vendidas. Se você vai ao bar e se apaixona por uma arte, pode simplesmente comprá-la.

Eu sempre gosto quando acontece essa “troca de artes”, porque o lugar nunca é exatamente o mesmo. Sempre tem algo novo pra contemplar. O mais legal é que cada cômodo segue uma espécie de tema artístico, o que deixa tudo ainda mais interessante e bem pensado.

Dessa vez, tirei algumas fotos. Não de todas as artes que mais gostei, mas dos espaços por onde consegui passar naquela noite. Nem todos os cômodos eu consegui ver, fica pra próxima.
