Killing Two Birds With One Stone.

A lot of times, life can become overwhelming. We get easily caught up in the hustle and bustle, which is very normal, but it becomes dangerous when we don't have a recharge routine to restore our physical or mental energy. Being a minimalist, recharging comes with simplicity, which means it's not just our space or schedule that can be simplified. Restoring lost energy can be done with so much ease than we can imagine.

The past few months have been super busy for me, and it's something I foresaw because parenting, especially for infants, can be very stressful. Even though I knew the task ahead, I didn't know where the stress would come from. My little one barely sleeps at night; he sleeps a lot during the day and stays active at night. Even when we try to make him sleep, a slight sound can wake him up, and he doesn't like being alone.

The moment he realizes that you aren't paying attention or not playing with him, he starts crying, so staying up at night became a duty for us. I can't leave my wife to it alone because she needs a lot of rest too. So, while we spend the good hours of the night awake, sleeping during the day is inevitable; otherwise, I will become less productive and might even fall sick.

To prevent sleeping during the day while I should be working, I take a power nap in between work, and because my body needs it, I just sleep off within a few minutes, and my alarm helps wake me up depending on the duration I have for the nap. As much as I didn't see a big deal with power naps before, it's really helping me recharge. Those power naps do magic both physically and mentally; it's like killing two birds with one stone.

Away from my new recharge routine, I have always had my ways of recharging, and they are quite effective.

A few people would know how I love to make my food; it's a method of recharging for me, and I hope a few people can relate. Physically, spending time in the kitchen might feel stressful, but mentally it helps me a lot. It is one of those times I get to put away every other thought; I just concentrate on my ingredients and ensure I make something delicious and healthy.

Eating healthy meals also counts as recharging because we need food to recharge physically. So, my time in the kitchen does a combo recharging for me, just like sleeping; it's fun doing less for more.

Lastly, embracing nature does a lot of magic. It can be an evening stroll or my morning walk through nature, and it's always recharging. Like the previous routine, hanging out in nature also does the combo. It helps me recharge physically and mentally through mindfulness. Doing less for more has been quite a thing, and my routine helps me achieve that.

This was such a delightful read and window into your current situation, George! Thank you for it. I can't imagine how hectic caring for a newborn is, but it sounds like you're handling it with great maturity and a healthy approach! Wishing you and your wife some sleep, though, and a big hug :)

The whole stress was expected but I didn't know it would have to do with sleepless nights. We are actually doing well with handling things and I know it's just a phase.

With time, he would adjust and everything will be completely fine again. I appreciate your visit, enjoy your weekend.
