My Simple Storage Hacks

I am always keen on organizing my things. I have come to understand the concept of Minimalism and how it intertwines with the act of decluttering. My friends would always compliment my ability to keep my space organized and decluttered. Most times I would get questions like “How do you manage to create a lot of space in your room, with all your things intact and organized?” To me it just involves me adapting several storage ideas to keep my space tidy and decluttered.

I wanted a reading table in my room to help me with studying and also working on my laptop. I knew how much I needed this table because I wouldn’t want to be studying on my bed or operating my laptop on my bed, it makes me so uncomfortable and most times, I tend to leave my laptop on my bed because I do not have a table. This made my room look untidy as my books weren’t arranged properly. So I knew I needed a table to help with this.

When I wanted to get the table, I decided to have someone make it for me, instead of going to the market and getting the usual reading table. I had to sort through several reading table designs. I needed a table that would be multifunctional. One I could use to keep my books organized without them being scattered on top of the table. So I chose a table that had a side storage compartment. I could keep my laptop by the side after usage and also keep my books by the side as well.

After I explained what I wanted. My service man gave me exactly what I described and honestly, this has been one of my best decluttering furniture. My table is always tidy and free when not in use while keeping my books by the side. This furniture makes my room look so organized.

Another storage idea for keeping my space tidy is having a basket where I keep my dirty clothes till when I want to wash them. I do not like it when my clothes are littered around. So I tend to keep my clean clothes in the wardrobe while I keep my dirty wears in my basket till when I tend to wash them. I do not leave my basket to be filled with dirty clothes before I wash them. So immediately I see the clothes are almost filled, I tend to wash them immediately because I love my space clean and organized.

In my room, I have a wardrobe and by the side of the wardrobe, I have compartments. One way I keep my things organized is by arranging my possessions in this compartment according to their uses. I keep my deodorants, oil, and body lotion in one compartment. The next compartment I use it for my bags, while my wigs and hair products are in the upper compartment. This way I get to know where each of my belongings are and I try not to scatter my space looking for anything. I try to store my things specifically in an organized way to avoid a cluttered space.

Staying organized has helped me in every area of my life even in my career and academics. These storage ideas have made it easier for me to have a tidy space and a less cluttered space.
