A Pinch of Extravagance in Simplicity

Who would have thought that Adulthood could be so busy and demanding that it is even difficult for me to make time to be on this platform, reading and engaging with posts? Guess who is here? Well, it’s me, of course, and I hope I stay here and not leave again.
Thank goodness this week’s Kiss prompt excites me because I get to talk about myself and my lifestyle.

As a Minimalist, I try to live life in its simplest form. But then there are some things that I know bring out that extravagant lifestyle in me. Yes, we all have that one thing that we wouldn’t mind spending lots of money on. Most times we try to even save up while dealing with important things so we can be able to afford certain things that are so expensive and scream extravagant lifestyle.

I love wigs. I rarely braid my hair. I get exhausted sitting in a spot for a long because I need to braid my hair. I envy people with natural long hairs that do not even require braiding or even wigs, they could go about with little or no styling. Well, since that isn’t my reality, I go for one thing that I feel is so extravagant in my life. So talking about one aspect of my life that feels extravagant, I will talk about my wig collection. Not a collection though because I don’t even have as much as I want to have.

So there are lots of wigs and I love the best ones. The ones that are classy and would not tangle, frizz, or become terrible in a space of weeks or months, or even years. If I am being honest with myself. I spend a whole lot when I want to get a good wig. Most times I even save up for it because I just need to get the best. My wigs are the most extravagant aspect of my life. It is one thing that I would call my little luxury but It is needed so I don’t go about looking homeless. Regardless I tend to keep it simple and classy when I wear these wigs.

Another aspect of my life that is extravagant is my book collection. I am a lover of books. Recently, African literature has become my new favorite genre. I hear some people say “Oh books are not so expensive” I just ignore them most times because my kind of books are so expensive. Especially when your tastes are on the good ones. Most times I even prefer my books in Hardbacks than paperbacks so I get to pay extra for them because they are more expensive.

I placed an order for just 6 books recently and I said to myself that I needed to take a break from the lifestyle of getting books on a regular because I do not have the finances to keep up with that extravagant spending. Yes I love books and I wouldn’t mind owning a library in my house but then my bank account says otherwise.

My Wig and Book collections are two parts of my life that I feel are extravagant but as a minimalist, I am finding a balance between this and other of my priorities. Regardless of the fact that I love these things which are so expensive. I try to fix my lifestyle on a scale of importance. A matter of Wants and Needs.

It would be absolutely beautiful to have a library in your house. I know you said your bank account says otherwise but I’m rooting for you and I know you can achieve it. Those wigs are pretty btw😍and I understand why you go hard on them

Just like you with the wig collection, I tend to spend a lot making long hairs, mostly attachments because I love it. And do you know what? I don’t use an attachment twice, I dispose them once they are used once. My friends have given me a name because of this and I don’t mind. lol
I can use money for food to make a long hair and I wouldn’t feel bothered about it because I love to look more good with a nice hairstyle.

My sister is like this hehe… I don’t know how to sit for long to make attachments and sometimes I wish I can

Ha, I can't possibly agree with the last one! You can never have too many books :D Rather, I'd argue you're living a perfectly balanced lifestyle there.
