Every now and then we find ourselves sailing into a city, either for stocking up, fueling up, or picking something (packages) or someone up. This time however we had some packages that we shipped to our friend and now had to pick them up.
That's the only thing we had planned for Sitka, other than just walking around town. But little did we know... whilst walking around town, we saw some familiar faces and as we saw each other we realized we knew each other. We have already met this native family 3 times and this was the 4th and it has always been randomly - never planned, just out of the blue.
First in Atka - Where we saw their native camp.
Then in Kodiak, where we did Saint Herman's Pilgrimage.
Then last year in Sitka.
And now, this year in Sitka!
We talked a bit and they told us they were going to a little picnic with their relatives on Magic Island, and of course they invited us and we couldn't refuse.
The picnic was on mainland and once low-tide came, you could walk over to Magic Island, and just to the left of magic Island (in the image) we saw a huge school of fish.
We even got to try some Seal meat again and some dried seaweed - we even got the recipe so we will definitely try it once we get some seaweed.
Unfortunately l couldn't get any shots of where the boat was as we came back really late and we left really early in the morning. Sitka is a lovely place, especially when there are no tourists - last year we were here in October celebrating a parade, but this year we came a bit earlier and there were plenty of tourists, every shop full of them, still it was lovely to see Sitka!
Have a wonderful week ahead, stay safe.
Until next time,
Kon

What a nice experience! It’s amazing how you keep meeting that family again and again by chance. Sometimes the best moments are the ones not planned. The place also looks so peaceful and seeing a big school of fish must be a beautiful sight. I really love na view so relaxing.
