Once again the Canadian wildfires are dumping smoke down into the Northern US, it seems to be an annual occurrence these days. Despite the constant haze and air quality warnings, it has made for some pretty spectacular sunrises. @mrsbozz tried to snap a photo on our way into work the other day, but it really doesn't do it justice. Trust me when I say the sun in the photo above was actually a deep magenta color. Think T-Mobile magenta.
Sadly, the photo we got ended up being pretty washed out and just kind of monotone. In fact, if it wasn't for the green grass on the side of the road at the bottom of the photo, I would almost think it was a black and white image.
So Trump and Musk seem to be fighting. I'm not going to talk about that, but in what I can only believe is related news, BTC took a big dive yesterday almost breaking the $100K mark. Thankfully we held and we are back up to the $104K range, it still gives me a bit of trepidation about the possibility of alt season actually happening. There's not much I can do but just keep moving forward at this point.
It is time again for another Finance Friday/Friday Finance. This is a series I started where I talk about random bits of financial stuff that I have seen, gathered, or experienced during the week. I hope as a reader you find it informational, entertaining, or both. I also hope it can generate some good discussion and edify the community.
—-----------------
I've seen a couple of articles lately talking about how higher income families are starting to do more of their shopping at dollar stores. Apparently, it seems to be a trend with the recent increase in goods due to tariffs and other things. Personally, I've never really been a fan of dollar stores. I've always kind of seen them as just a random crap show of stuff thrown into a really small space.
In addition to that, the fact that things are no longer a dollar just drives me crazy. Back before my time, five and dimes were named that for a reason. You would think we might have learned our lesson there and not implied that everything in a dollar store is actually a dollar.
But that's not the point.
Part of me wonders if the fact that Dollar General is building a store in just about every vacant space they can find is part of the reason for the increase in customers. It ultimately might be more about convenience than actually saving money. I remember back in the day, Radio Shack had a statistic that said everyone in the US works or lives within five minutes of a Radio Shack. That's just how big they were. These days, I kind of feel like Dollar General has taken over that stat!
I finally made some big moves with Splinterlands yesterday and I decided to sell the packs I have been sitting on. I had thought about opening them, but after a bit of advice, I realized they were more valuable closed than opened. I placed them on the Splinterlands internal market and I am waiting to see what happens with them.
I've currently got 99 Chaos Legion packs sitting out there and 200 Riftwatchers packs sitting out here. If anyone is interested in making a legitimate side deal, please reach out to me. I think we can negotiate a price that is fair to both of us (you interested @azircon?).
I also did a bit of rearranging of the cards on my lands to increase some of my production after reading some of @azircon's posts in the past week. I was able to increase my DEC production by a couple hundred DEC per minute if I remember correctly.
I was sitting in my office the other day looking at some of the notifications on my phone and I noticed that my Fortuna Silver Mine stock was making a bit of a climb. It wasn't anything that was going to make me rich, but it was enough of a move that Robinhood felt the need to inform me about it. I didn't think too much of it, but then a little later I started seeing the posts from folks here on HIVE talking about the spot price of silver hitting the $35 mark.
I had been wanting to buy some more silver around the $30 mark, but I never got around to it and now I am kind of kicking myself for that. It's becoming kind of clear to me that if I really want to invest in silver I am probably better off doing some kind of DCA into pieces. In the grand scheme of things even $40 per month isn't really that much money (where I live), the only issue would be shipping charges for one piece of silver if I purchased it online.
I'm going to have to consider my options here...
There was an announcement the other day that the delegation rewards from the PWR token are moving from 12% APR to 15% APR. I've been pretty happy stacking the PWR token over the past year or so. Actually, it's possible it has been longer than that, I don't really know. I've got a decent amount in the LP (1.86% of the pool), and I have some staked. I'd like to start building my position there, so I might consider delegating a bit more than the 3000 HP I currently do. I'm not quite sure yet.
I've been chasing that 100K HP mark for quite some time now and I think delegating even more away from my stake will just make it take that much longer for me to get there.
Speaking of HIVE power, my secondary account @bozz.sports is getting pretty close to hitting 10K HP. This isn't just a junk account for me. Five days a week I post content about different sports I am interested in. It's the typical high quality content you have come to expect from me, just in a more focused format. I encourage you to check that account out and leave some comments on my posts if you haven't already. I reply to them and upvote them just like I do on my main account.

Having these fires become 'normal' is worrying. The forests will not recover every time. As for Trump and Musk, this was bound to happen as I doubt they were really friends and are out to get what they can for themselves. Musk managed to trash and regulation of his business, but will want to keep those valuable government contracts.
We have lots of 'cheap' shops here too, but what they sell tends to be lacking in quality. A lot of retail has gone online, but we lose something from that. I will keep supporting businesses who I think give a good service where I can.
Forest fires in general have been happening for ages. Even before people were in every corner of the globe, lightning would strike and cause destruction that promoted new growth. The problem is the fuel we now add those fires, so instead of going out on their own, they just keep getting hotter and bigger. My guess is, there is something else going on that they don't want us to focus on, thus this "spat".
Of course they have happened before, but when they start getting worse due to changes in the climate then we should be very worried. The fires add to the climate problem.
So who are 'they' that don't want us to notice? Is it just the fossil fuel companies who have a lot a political influence? Short-term thinking will kill us all.

With your silver, I get the feeling of not buying at an earlier price and then watching the coin go higher. It's quite painful, lol.
Musk and Trump fight is something I knew would happen. They are both big bosses and stubborn.
Congratulations on your stakes so far, and cheers to more.
Thank you and yes, I definitely have a bit of FOMO on my silver stack right now! Like personalities often clash it would seem.
I do group buys with two friends. I have my one friend who orders it hold the items until it hits a good number of ounces then he’s sends it in a flat rate bag.
Sounds like a smart play!
I have liquidated 1/14 of my silver position in PSLV yesterday. I feel like this is a good start of DCA out of my Silver position.
Those Canadian fires impact us every year in Seattle as well. Usually in July / August from what I recall...

Dollar cost averaging is what I have been doing ever since I started stacking. In fact, that's what I do for stocks as well. It's impossible to time the markets for almost anything. So far, so good!
