The image is mine
One afternoon, I sat in a small cafe on the corner of the city, enjoying a cup of coffee that cost the same as a pack of Padang rice. I began to wonder, what am I really paying for? The taste of the coffee? The place? Or maybe the experience offered? If this coffee was brewed at home, the price would certainly be much cheaper. But here, because it was made by a barista and served in a comfortable atmosphere, I was willing to pay more. All of this happened because of one thing: money.

Money is one of the biggest myths ever created by humans. In Sapiens, Harari said that collective trust is the foundation of civilization. So, what about money? It is the most universal form of trust that has ever existed. We believe that a piece of paper money with a certain nominal value can be exchanged for anything, even if you are lucky with investments, its value can multiply.
However, have we ever thought that money is actually just a number on the screen of a banking application or a paper with a picture of a national hero that we consider sacred? Even gold, once considered the ultimate treasure, is just a yellow metal that can’t be eaten or used to write love letters. Its value exists solely because we all agree to believe it is. If everyone decided tomorrow that a piece of gold was worth less than a pebble, its glory days would be over in an instant.
"Money, it's a crime
Share it fairly but don’t take a slice of my pie"
— Pink Floyd, Money
My experience with money has been a roller coaster. I used to believe that saving was the key to financial happiness, until I realized that inflation was accelerating faster than my savings were growing. Then I tried investing. Stocks? Too volatile. Crypto? Too wild. Property? Land prices were rising faster than my salary. Eventually, I concluded that money is not just for hoarding, but also for creating experiences and a better life.
But the big question remains: if money is a myth, why are we so obsessed with it? Most of us spend our lives working, saving, and investing, often without really enjoying the results. We chase the numbers in our bank accounts without asking what we are really looking for. Ultimately, money is just a tool. Just as a hammer is useless if not used to build something, money loses its meaning if it is simply collected without a purpose.
And at the end of this story, I took a sip of my nearly cold coffee and realized one thing: finances are not just numbers, but how we use them to live the life we want.

Is the root of all evil today"

So, do you want to keep hoarding money like a dragon guarding its gold pile? Or do you want to use it to create a life story that truly matters? The decision is in your hands—or rather, in your wallet.
