Time is the Currency we spend

I recently came across a video interview with 50 Cent and Monet, and what 50 Cent said in the interview was interesting to me. He said he believes that in this current world, time is what we spend. It sounded deep, and I thought about it for a second or two. What if time is a currency we spend?

We are currently living in a world where things happen fast. There is fast internet, social media, things moving fast, or at least trying to up their speed, and then there is the need for personal space just to enjoy one's time through a private dinner. I think success sees time as a currency as well. Probably that is why it gets so hard to get a successful person on the phone easily or get their attention if they believe you are not worth their time.

Due to the value of time, we exchange a couple of hours, minutes, and even seconds in exchange for something else. Thereby making it a form of currency with that exchange alone. But here is the thing. I think time might be more expensive to buy. It is impossible to recoup any form of time spent and even lost; the best we can do is make do with what time we have left. Hence, my reason why I think time is more expensive. Imagine if there was a way to buy back lost time, or there was a time machine that could take you back in time. I am more than certain it would cost a fortune to buy back lost time, and cost double to be able to travel back in time.

There is a lot in the world that competes for your time daily. It could be your job, your friend, your spouse, social media, or anything else. Even though we are all given the same amount of time. We all have 24 hours a day, no matter where we are in the world. But what makes it look like some people make the most use of their time while others do not? Well, it comes down to managing your time. Time management is the quality that sets some people apart from others. I totally understand that someone may not be available at a given point in time, while they may be available at other times. It is about the timing. Scheduling your activity is what makes the advancement to make proper use of your time to the best you can.

In the aspect of time being a currency, I choose to see it this way: we are all given a certain amount of money, which in this case stands for the 24 hours in a day. What you want to buy with this currency given to you is entirely up to you. You cannot spend more than the amount given to you, which makes it scarce, and you know what happens with scarcity: it becomes expensive. Scarcity of time, or rather the limited edition of time, is the unique power that comes with time. Then, how we use it is what makes it a currency.

The one thing I can say adulthood is teaching me is the value I assign to my time. I cannot get back the time I have spent or the ones I have wasted, but I can make good use of what is left. Value your time as well as other people's time.

Time is one of our precious asset, a time lost can never be regain, this is why time management is an important skill that everyone needs to learn.

I totally agree that our time is a currency, and how we spend it determines alot in our life and personal growth.

An amazing piece I must say 👏.

Time indeed is a currency, and once you spend it, it's gone. The most important thing is to spend it wisely, get important things with it and not waste it. Because it is very precious.

So, I think this is a call to put more value on time and appreciate it.

Thanks for sharing.
