He mastered the letter "A," filling her mother and grandmother with a sense of wholesome pride. I was in a rush, but I had to stop because the sky looked so beautiful, displaying a stunning array of colors. Accompanying that shot of the sky are two other photos I’d like to share with you: one shows the full moon veiled by a blanket of clouds that softens its glow, while the other captures the moon emerging to reveal itself, peeking through those same clouds and showing off part of its splendor.
By this time, night had fully fallen.
The moon—that inspiring moon, the sovereign mistress of the night. Countless are the songs, poems, tales, legends, and paintings inspired by the moon and its soft, white, cold light—a light so distinct (though it is the same moon) from the radiant sunlight that bathes everything in gold when it rules its daytime realm. There are songs of every kind—such as the one about the moon’s earrings, which a lover once took, hiding them away in a golden chest at the bottom of the sea to fashion a necklace for his sweetheart. If you don’t know the song... don’t judge it before listening by clicking here.
Another hauntingly beautiful song is "Hijo de la Luna" (Child of the Moon) by the group Mecano. It tells a legend about a Gypsy woman who spends an entire night pleading with the moon to grant her wish: to marry a man from the Calé Gypsy tribe the following day. Without stating it explicitly, the song alludes to the fact that Gypsies do not permit marriages between individuals from different tribes. The moon agrees to grant her wish in exchange for her firstborn child.
The Gypsy woman accepts the deal, and the moon keeps its word: the wedding takes place the next day. Time passes, and the couple's first child is born. Although his parents have dark skin, he—being the child of the moon—is born with very fair skin and gray eyes. The husband immediately assumes his wife has been unfaithful with a payo (a non-Gypsy man); he draws a dagger, kills his wife, takes the baby, and abandons him in the forest. The song concludes by explaining that when the baby is happy, there is a full moon, and when he cries, the moon wanes to form a cradle for him. Listen to the song by clicking here I wanted to share the excellent version that @gabrielinhomusic created.
Thanks for reading this far; I hope you enjoy my contribution.
