My younger cousin had his Moving Up Ceremony a couple of days ago. Another close cousin and I surprised him and attended his ceremony. Our plan succeeded, and he was quite shocked to see us the night before the ceremony. I was playfully chatting with him about anime because my other cousin decided to buy him an anime shirt as a gift, and I had to find out what he's currently into.
And as for my gift, I painted him a portrait. One of the many similar things we share is our love for art. He always tells me that I influenced him, and I'm actually happy about it. He loves sketching, while I love painting. So I thought, giving him something I made would be a wonderful gift.
Here's what I made... :)

I used one of the graduation photos he sent on our group chat as a reference. I seldom do portraits, but I'm quite satisfied with how it turned out.
Anyway, I want to share some of the progress shots I took for this artwork.

On a 20 x 20 cm canvas panel, I sketched his face. I'm not into pencil sketches because I tend to be very messy. So, painting over the messy lines is something I enjoy. hahaha Unlike my cousin, I'm not very patient when it comes to sketching and hatching. XD

I transfered to the dining table because it's cooler and brighter. I prepared the things I need, acrylic paint, paintbrushes, pallettes, and water/wetwipes to clean the brushes.

It turned out better than I expected. Even though I haven't really painted much these days, I'm glad I could somehow pull it off. Here are some more angles of the finished portrait painting.

He was so happy when I gave it to him. He said he's going to display it beside the previous portrait painting he did for a school project. He went to our place that time since he needed my help with it. He did most of the painting, and I guided him.
Another thing he mentioned after seeing my gift was... "I miss my mustache!" hahaha xD His school asked him to shave for the graduation or moving up ceremony, so he had no choice. XD Well at least, it still exists on this painting.

It was fun, but it took me three hours to finish it... and it wasn't that big. hahaha I wonder how long it would take me to paint a much bigger one. I'd love to continue painting, and improve even more in the days to come. I just hope I'd get more free time to do that. XD
Anyway, that's it for this post. I hope you enjoyed it. See you around! (^^,)/

Amazing!
That was so amazing! Nice artwork.
That was a very nice gift you gave your cousin. A painting that will be quite valuable to her.
