Celebrating Motherhood: A little drawing for a new Mum

I will never fully grasp what it feels like to have a little human growing in a woman’s womb, I have so many questions to ask. “Does it hurt?” Does your tummy tickle you?” “Do you feel like the baby is about to pop out?” And many other ridiculous questions that go on in this crazy mind of mine.

While I wait till the day I finally have my own baby growing and breathing in my womb I will not stop celebrating with every woman who has gone through this journey.

A friend of mine gave birth to her princess a few weeks ago and I am super happy. We are miles and miles apart but I thought to make something beautiful for her and no better way than to draw this beautiful picture that depicts a baby and a mother.

To achieve this drawing I used the following materials and followed the below steps.

Materials
Sketch pad
2H pencil
4B pencil
Eraser

Procedure

Step 1:
I started by using my 2H pencil to make a lighter outline of the image and I started with the first three fingers.

Step 2:
I proceeded to draw the big thumb and the nails inclusive.

Step 3:
I drew the baby’s feet in between the index finger and thumb.

Step 4:
Satisfied with how my drawing was coming out I added the remaining letters to the image.

Step 5:
After making the lighter outline of my drawing with my 2H pencil I used my 4B pencil to give my drawing a darker tone.

Step 6:
To add a bit of realism to my drawing I carefully shaded it. This is a new technique to me and I love how it turned out.

Satisfied with how the drawing turned out I took some last-minute pictures before sending it to my friend.
The look on my friend’s face when she saw the drawing was priceless and I was so happy to have made her so happy.
