Hardwork Never Retires! - A life lesson from our hardworking 72 year old Grandmother!

"Hard work has no Age!" - do you agree with me?

Mabuhay!

How was your New Year celebration? Mine was all good because i celebrated it with my family. I hope yours too! 😊

This time I'm back to share another life lesson from 2025! Lol! This was all about our 72-year old grandma. In my previous blog, I share her 72nd birthday celebration and this time I will share a life lesson she taught and shows us from previous year.

This photo was taken on the last day of 2025. The sunrise that morning was incredibly beautiful and the weather was calm and clear. Because of this pleasant atmosphere, my grandmother decided to remove the weeds on her potted plants. She had just celebrated her 72nd birthday last month.

At her age, she has already grown weaker compared to before, yet she still insists on keeping herself busy by doing any household chores including cleaning the environment.

Our grandmother used to be a farmer when she was younger. Farming was her life, her routine, and her source of strength. However, due to old age, she no longer has the energy to go to the farm. Her knee can't hold any longer when she walks uphill. These previous months, she mostly stays at home. Still, even while at home, she does not want to remain idle and sitting all day.

Despite her slow steps and occasional limping caused by her age, she continues to do small chores around the house. She cleans the potted plants placed along the pathway leading to their home and tidies the surroundings as much as she can. After an hour of working, she finally takes a rest, and she is satisfied with what she has done. Also, she can't stand the heat of the sun.

I once asked her why she always wants to keep herself busy even though she is already old. She answered honestly, saying that she feels like she will get sick if she does nothing or sits all day. For her, staying active no matter how small the task, she keeps her body and spirit alive. She dislikes sitting around with nothing to do. I think this is also good for herself because it is also her exercise but sometimes i feel pity for her because of her age. Sometimes, she also watches over her grandchildren, although she can no longer carry babies because it is already difficult for her, so she only watches those grandchild that can walk.

Seeing my grandmother like this made me realize something important about life. Hard work does not disappear with age. A hardworking person remains hardworking, even if they grow old. I have never seen someone who was hardworking when they were young and suddenly become lazy in old age except, of course, for those who are sick or physically unable to move. Though, there are some but not all.

This realization hit me deeply because I am still young and already have children of my own. I need to work hard like my grandma to feed my family. If my grandmother, at 72 years old, can still be this diligent and hardworking, how much more should I be, knowing that I have children who depend on me? Right?

This is one of life’s simple but powerful lessons not just for me but for all of us young ones. We are lucky that we witness this kind of people while we are still young, this allows us to learn from the hard work and perseverance of our parents and grandparents. We are truly blessed to see their dedication and use it as inspiration not only for our family but also for ourselves and we can also apply it in our daily life.

That's all about my grandma who taught me a life lesson from the previous year and I hope I can use it for this year and coming years. That's all for today, I hope you also learn some from your parents and grandparents! Please stay safe and keep smiling and Happy New Year!

See you on my next blog!

Parang yung lola ko. 75 years old na yun now pero malakas pa. She doesn't want to rest at home or do nothing. She wants to be busy like usual coz if not, she will mostly be sick. And I think they have a point. If you compare those oldies with a different lifestyle to them, they are weaker and look older than those busy grandmas.

In the Philippines foreigners are being kidnapped by police officers. More about the root of the corruption you can read here: [Philippine's human rights violations] The Marcos Dynasty 2/239
