Splinterlands New Update and How I'm Preparing for the New Reward Cards!

Hello Splinterlands Summoners! 2025 is proving to be an exciting year for Splinterlands. We have a number of new updates to our game especially the introduction of a new set, Conclave Arcana. During the year there were also new cards in the Voucher and Conflicts shops. In the final quarter of the year, a new update was announced: Conclave Arcana reward cards! After this update, the Rebellion cards like my favorite Commander Slade will no longer be available and will be replaced by a new set of reward cards.

The Conclave Arcana Reward Cards

There will be forty three new cards composed of twelve common, rare and legendary while there are only seven epic cards. These can be pulled from reward chests or purchased in the Glint shop. The exciting difference of the new cards are the Black and Arcane Foils!

Introduced together with the Conclave Arcana set, Black and Arcane Foils are ultra rare cards that come at maximum levels. They can be obtained throught the weekly fortune draws. More details on the new rewards set are in this post.

My Expectations and Wishes

I'm expecting the new cards to introduce new meta in the game. They will probably maximize the use of Bloodline Dominion by the Conclave Arcana archons. I'm hoping that the new reward cards will include archons of other races like humans, minotaurs or tideborns.

How I'm Preparing for the New Set

I continue with my daily battles but have been saving my Glints. I have been expecting this and I stopped buying Rebellion reward chests. I have already upgraded the cards to my desired levels anyway. I'm also swapping some of my L2 tokens to DEC while it's cheap. DEC is priced at around sixty cents from its supposed price of one dollar. It makes sense to accumulate DEC now at discounted prices.

More DEC and SPS Utility

The introduction of the new set includes new ways to spend DEC and increase its utility. In addition to my point above, it makes more sense to accumulate DEC since there will be further use for it with the coming of the new reward cards. First, we need it to join the weekly fortune draws by purchasing a Fortune pass that costs 125 DEC. Second, DEC will be needed to purchase unbinding scrolls. These are new items that will be needed to unbind the reward cards.

Further, with the introduction of the new reward cards, staking SPS has an additional utility. The amount of staked SPS caps the amount of fortune draws a player can earn. In my case that staked only below 20k SPS, I can only earn a maximum two fortune draws a week. I will have to increase my staked SPS to increase my fortune draw tickets and increase my winning chances as well.

Final Thoughts

It's an exciting time to play Splinterlands. I've never felt so hyped since I played this game in 2021. The new updates this year has reinvigorated the game and adds to its longevity while other #play2earn games have shut down. It's a testament to the team's creativity matched by the passion of Splinterlands players that our game continues to thrive.

I'm still seeing things rarther pessimistic in that none of this will really bring new players to the game while the card values will once again just be a race to the bottom as there will be a lot of supply while I don't see that much demand especially as time goes by.

I hope that the free to play Campaign mode will bring new players to try the game and buy spell books when they see how much fun the game has more to offer. The changes the team made certainly made the game better since the Chaos Legion era. They made Splinterlands like what it was in the beginning. A fun TCG where players can strengthen their deck by simply playing the game and earning reward cards.
