A Simple Saturday Filled with Small Joys: Fangirling over Vampires, Mama’s Spicy Bicol Express, and Unboxing a Charm Bracelet Full of Life’s Symbols

Hello everyone! Hello to all the wonderful people of @Hiveph community! This is me “LJ”, and here I am again to share with you another story of my daily life.

Today is Saturday, and I decided to spend my weekend in the simplest way possible. Sometimes, the best kind of weekend are the ones where you don’t do anything grand but still end up feeling relaxed and happy.

My day, started slow and easy which is exactly how I like it. For breakfast, I had my favorite bowl of “lugaw” (rice porridge) that I bought from my go-to store here in our town. There’s just something so comforting about eating it especially in the morning. It warms not only my stomach but also my soul.

While eating my favorite breakfast for the day, I opened my Prime Video app and clicked on “The Vampire Diaries”. I am still on season 3, and honestly, I don’t know why I did not watch it sooner. This series got me hooked! I have always loved vampire shows, but this one just hits differently. The love triangle between the main characters keeps me glued to the screen every time plus they were all handsome and beautiful. The show has so many twists and I can’t wait to see what happens next.

After finishing my breakfast and a couple of episodes (okay, maybe more than a couple!), I remembered that I had a small package waiting for me from Shopee (online store app that sells almost anything under the sun and in cheaper prices). This time, it wasn’t just something practical but it was something special for me since it was my advance birthday gift for myself. I bought a beautiful charm bracelet! And the best part is that I handpicked every single charm myself. Each charm has a meaning and symbolizes something important in my life.

When I had the bracelet for the first time, I couldn’t help but admire how pretty it looked. But beyond its beauty, I felt a deep connection to it because the charms told little pieces of my story. One charm reminded me of family, another of strength, another of love, and there were even some that represented my passions. It’s like carrying a collection of memories and inspirations on my wrist. It instantly became more than just a jewelry. It felt like a personal treasure!

Lunchtime came, and I was lucky because my mama prepared one of my favorites which is the “Bicol Express”(famous spicy pork in coconut milk with chillies, a Filipino dish that originated from the Bicol region of the Philippines). The rich and spicy flavor never fails to satisfy me. Eating her homecooked meals always reminds me of comfort and love, things that money can’t really buy. I ended up eating more than I planned to because it was just to good to resist.

The afternoon rolled by peacefully until my little niece came to visit. She’s such a cute and bubbly 2-year old kid. Her presence always makes the house feel livelier. She came along with her mother, who is also my cousin, to drop off the biscuits and chocolates I ordered from her.

While carrying my niece, I couldn’t help but notice how much she has grown. It feels like just yesterday she was still a baby, and now she’s running around the house full of energy. We spent some time chatting and laughing, and it really brightened up the rest of my afternoon.
