Hello everyone!
Today, I want to share my simple cooking experience here in the mountain. After accompanying my brother to his checkup, I felt happy that we had finished another important step in his recovery. So, I decided to celebrate by cooking something special for my family!

In our family, my parents have a simple principle: raise animals so we have something to eat when there is no food on the table. This is one thing I learned from them. Here in the province, raising ducks and chickens is helpful because we can prepare them for our meals whenever needed.

Now, I have four ducks ready to be cooked. My plan was to make duck patotin and adobo. Imagine having two delicious dishes from my parents backyard.
First, I cleaned and prepared the duck meat. Duck meat can be tough, so it needs enough time to cook until it becomes soft and tender.

For my patotin, I prepared garlic, onion, ginger, soy sauce, pepper, and other seasonings. I cooked the duck with the ingredients and added water. Then, I let it simmer for a long time until the meat became tender and the flavors mixed well.
I wanted to add carrots and bell peppers, too, but unfortunately, I could not get them from our farm. That is one funny thing about cooking in the province. Sometimes, we have many ingredients available, but sometimes, we still need to make do with what we have!
Even without many vegetables, my patotin turned out so delicious. The meat was soft, and the sauce tasted great with hot rice. Honestly, the longer the duck cooked, the better it became!

For the adobo, I used garlic, soy sauce, vinegar, pepper, and a little water. I let the meat simmer until it became tender and the sauce was full of flavor. Just thinking about eating it with rice already made me hungry!
You know what? I may not eat a lot, but I enjoy cooking for my family. Even if I only eat a small portion, I feel happy when I see them enjoying the food I prepare.

I am also thankful for what my parents taught us. Raising animals is not only about selling them. It also means having food ready when the family needs it.😍

This is the simple life I enjoy in the province. We use what we have, cook with love, and share our blessings.
