Greetings, Fabulous Felines and Hoomans of Hivelandia and surrounding communities!

We have arrived at the weekend, and I hope this first Caturday of October has been treating you well!

Shangri can barely wake up enough to show his face!

Having a quiet autumn day around our place, and we decided to try something a little different for this week's update... namely taking more or less "live" pictures of the cats in this moment, rather than a curated collection from the past week or so.

We'll see how it goes... there's a lot of napping going on, so it may not be the easiest challenge we've chosen!

Shadow — aka "Curator Cat" — is fast asleep.

So far, not a lot of interest. So let's scope out the house and see if we can find Smudge and see what she's up to!

It wouldn't surprise me if she were — you guessed it — sleeping!

As expected, Smudge is sleeping. Hard to even tell which end of the cat is where!

As part of doing the rounds, Smudge's dish needed to be refilled.

Predictably, the sound of cat kibble hitting the dish did result in a response!

Hey! Did I just hear FOOD?

We're happy that the cataract in Smudge's left eye seems to be stable and she still has sight in her right eye.

After all, it's not easy being 20 years old, when you're a cat!

Time to head back downstairs to where the primary "cat jungle" is located!

A fly buzzes around the overhead light!

How about that! Shangri and Nala were actually awake because a fly had found its way into the room and was buzzing against the overhead light and making noise.

Proof, I suppose, that napping cats are really not that fast asleep, most of the time!

Nala is generally the most active and curious of our furry crew, always looking to she what she can get into!

I suppose this little Caturday exercise is — as much as anything — a demonstration of how most cat photography unfolds. Typically the "nice" photos of the cats we share are selected from hundreds of images (many of which are "cat blur") accumulated over a week, and we end up finding maybe 6-10 that are actually worthy of being shared on the blog.

Of course, cat photography is also very rewarding when we do capture a really good shot of one of the cats.

But now everyone has gone back to their napping spots, so it's time to call the end of this Caturday update! I hope your weekend is going well, and we all wish you a great Sunday!
