There is another UK bank switching offer on the table — and this one has a rather eye-catching headline.
Barclays is offering up to £300 for switching to its standard current account, while qualifying Premier customers can potentially get up to £600.
Sounds pretty fluffing good, right!
But this isn't one of those simple switch your account, wait a few weeks and collect £300 offers.
There are a few hoops to jump through.
Actually, there are quite a few hoops. 😅
So let's have a proper look at what Barclays is offering, what you have to do, and where I think people could easily come unstuck.
MMOnline transparency: I haven't personally completed this Barclays offer. This post is based on Barclays' published October 2026 terms. If I test it myself later, I'll update the article with what actually happens.
For most of us, this is the offer we're talking about.
The £300 isn't paid as one lovely lump of cash.
It is split into ...
£150 for completing the qualifying bank switch
plus
up to another £150, paid as £30 a month for five months.
That second part is important.
You don't simply collect the first £150 and automatically receive another £150 later.
You have to continue meeting Barclays' conditions every month.

The basic checklist looks like this:
If you satisfy the qualifying conditions, Barclays says the initial £150 switch reward should be paid within 28 working days of meeting them.
So far, not too complicated.
But ... now we come to the other £150...

Once you've qualified for and received the initial £150 reward, you can potentially collect another:
£30 × 5 months = £150
But in each qualifying month, Barclays says you need to:
And this is one of the details I would definitely not skim over.
The published terms say qualifying salary payments must be received via Bacs from an employer.
Moving £2,000 from one of your own bank accounts into Barclays isn't the same thing. Sneaky fluffers!!!
That immediately makes this offer rather different from some switching promotions where a simple cash deposit is enough.
You also need those 10 eligible card transactions each month.
Fortunately, normal purchases made in shops, online or through a digital wallet can count.
But things such as cash withdrawals, gambling transactions, internal transfers and person-to-person payments don't count.
The good news is that if you mess up one month, that doesn't necessarily kill the remaining months — you could still qualify for another month's £30 if you meet that month's conditions.
This is definitely an offer that requires a diary reminder.

This is where the advertising number gets much more exciting.
Barclays Premier customers can potentially receive up to £600.
That consists of:
£450 initial switch reward
plus
five possible £30 monthly rewards
for another £150.
Total: £600.
But steady your horses, the requirements are way higher.
The switch itself still needs to be a full CASS switch with three active Direct Debits, but Premier customers need at least £5,000 of qualifying salary paid in within 30 days.
And, of course, you need to qualify for Barclays Premier in the first place.
So the £600 is real...
…but it certainly isn't £600 available to everybody who happens to fancy changing banks.
That's why I think “up to £600” needs a bit of context whenever you see it in the headline.
There are several exclusions worth knowing about.
For example, you're unlikely to qualify if:
This is also an offer for new sole current-account customers.
So check the eligibility before doing anything drastic with an old bank account.

I actually think the standard £300 Barclays offer is interesting.
The initial £150 looks relatively straightforward if you genuinely receive at least £2,000 a month in qualifying salary and have three Direct Debits ready to move.
The second £150 is the slightly annoying bit.
You need to remember:
10 card transactions + £2,000 qualifying salary every month.
For somebody who intends to make Barclays their main everyday bank anyway, that might happen naturally.
For somebody whose only objective is grabbing a switching bonus, there are certainly easier offers to manage.
And the Premier £600?
A very nice headline — but only really relevant if you already meet the Premier requirements.
So my take is:
Worth a look, but read the checklist before you start the switch.
That's exactly the sort of thing we try to do at MMOnline — look beyond the giant number in the advert and work out what you actually need to do to get the money.
I've gone into much more detail on the website, including the eligibility rules, monthly reward requirements and the Premier £600 offer:

As always, check Barclays' latest terms before applying because switching promotions can be changed or withdrawn.
Have you ever switched bank accounts purely for a cash bonus?
And would you bother with five months of extra conditions for the additional £150?

This isn't financial advice. Offers, eligibility rules and terms can change. Information checked on 6 October 2026.
Real tests. Real money. No get-rich-quick nonsense.
That is sneaky! I'm guessing it's only for UK customers too, though it is a pretty good offer.
Instead of updating this, if you try it, you should make a new article about it 😄

"Up to £600" sounds good until you read the fine print and see you need to be a Premier customer earning £5k a month. That's not a switching incentive, that's a wealth management pitch.
The usual £300 offer is more realistic but lets be honest, asking for £2k in salary AND 10 card transactions a month for five months is pretty much asking you to put your life on hold for an extra £150.
If you’re already banking with Barclays then yes, go get the £150 for the switch. But if you are just doing this for the cash, there are way easier offers out there that don't require a monthly chore list.
Read the terms. Always read the terms. 📝💸
I thought it's an online earning app that's why I got interested. Hahaha! But turned out to be a personal banking thing...Still, I enjoyed reading your blog and learned a new thing. Thanks for sharing! 😇
