There’s a clear distinction between night and day, and for everyone who walks the earth, it takes just the eyes to see this difference because once you open them, the view changes. During the day, the eyes are familiar with sunlight, and during the night, they behold darkness.
It does get a little tricky for those who are blind because many of them cannot see even a tiny bit of what each period looks like. While a lot of people believe that the blind have sharper instincts or a third eye that helps them differentiate things easily, I think that the easiest way for them is understanding the roles of both silence and chaos.
The day is often filled with the hustle and bustle of people walking on the streets, some going to school, others going to their places of primary assignment. The blaring of car horns is unending, and the indistinct chatter of roadside traders remains consistent. Even when you’re home, the little sounds from someone trying to do their chores, go on errands, or have the TV or music speaker turned on cannot be ignored.
On the other hand, the night comes with a kind of peaceful quietness that brings all the noise to a halt. The type that tells the birds to stop chirping, instructs the animals to go to sleep, and also informs every human that the time for rest has arrived.
Unlike the day, where the weather is likely to stay hot throughout, the night is often cooler and more soothing to our thoughts. The calmness that comes with it makes it the perfect time for us to sit with our feelings, lay our hearts bare to others, and even bask in the beauty of the moon and the twinkling of the stars in the dark clouds.
Generally, the night feels dreamy, it brings us the most peaceful sleep and also creates the most pleasant atmosphere for lovers to speak with their bodies. I reckon it’s a wonderful thing to experience the night, and I’ll forever be grateful that it exists to serve us fully, especially as night owls.
